Last night, word came out via Politico that the hard drive to the computer of former IRS official Lois Lerner was destroyed and recycled. This follows the news that emails from Lerner and six other officials that were being investigated for the IRS' pointed targeting of conservative non-profits were lost. Without a doubt, this revelation is big news. But not in the minds of ABC, CBS, and NBC as all gave no mention to the matter.
Only ABCs Good Morning America included a brief mention on the scrolling news feed at the bottom of the screen. The small headline read, Computer Hard Drive Belong to Former IRS Official at Center of Targeting Scandal Was Destroyed, According to Politico.
Good Morning America did have time though to devote 37 seconds to a video of computer chair racing in Denmark and 3 minutes and 1 second to talking with reality star Kate Gosselin about a two-part special about her sextuplets turning 10 years old. Meanwhile, Today found time to spend three minutes and 26 seconds on how Kim Kardashian has been since she married rapper Kanye West last month in France.
All three networks covered a viral video of a police chase that included driving across a golf course.
Barry got the Lamborghini????
National propagandists.
Well, as long as they are covering Kim Kardashian, everything will be fine for the LIVs.
Thanks for the update on Kate Gosselin!
I had totally forgotten she existed LOL.
Now if I could just find the latest Tweet from Kanye & Kim life would be perfect.
Remember there’s a reason the TV comes first in TV news. It is NOT their job to inform, it’s their job to sell eyeballs to advertisers. So they’re going to cover “stories” that have the most mass appeal and keep people watching through the commercials.
wow, I hope Barry was notified immediately!
Squirrel!
of the car chase, that is.
I believe that Lois Lerner’s emails are in Kim Kardashian’s pants. That should amount to wall-to-wall coverage.
“Remember theres a reason the TV comes first in TV news. It is NOT their job to inform, its their job to sell eyeballs to advertisers. So theyre going to cover stories that have the most mass appeal and keep people watching through the commercials.”
That was once true. But now, as TV news has dramtically lost viewership, it’s clear that their role is propaganda, at all costs.
The media is willingly complicit in the crimes of this administration.
Journalists in name only. They are the tyrant’s foot soldiers. Is there really an argument any more about whose side the MSM is on?
It’s still true today. They have their audience and the cater to their audience because that audience’s eyeball let them keep the lights on, and if their audience doesn’t care about Lerner and the IRS then they’re not going to talk about it, because if they did people would turn the channel. The fact is if you want to be informed you don’t turn to the TV, that was the case long before the internet and is even more so now.

I’m not so sure. From what I understand, the news department is a loser for the networks. I also believe that the networks can drive public interest in a subject.
Honestly, if it were all about eyeballs and revenue, why wouldn’t at least one major news organization drift right in order to capture some of Fox’s audience?
Remember part of why networks have news departments is it’s an easy way to fulfill the “community service” clause in the FCC license deal. It enabled the rest of the network to even exist. Meanwhile the lost money is very Hollywood, everything loses money, especially if somebody has a contract that gives them net points.
Networks used to be able to drive public interest. Not anymore, as you point out, viewership is in the toilet. Even the stories they do carry are old news by the time the evening news comes on.
Drift right to where? Conservative audiences don’t trust TV news. Even Fox’s rating are pretty mediocre unless there’s a big story going on, Fox scored a big “win” with their Hillary interview, her highest rated cable news interview, at just over 2 million viewers. That’s not an audience worth fighting over.
