Federal agents this week searched the Florida home of a 'doomsday prepper' they alleged had stockpiled over 50 high-powered assault rifles and several explosive devices buried around his property as 'booby traps'.
However the warrant showed up little more than barrels of food.
Martin Winters, a father-of-three from Valrico, surrendered to police on Wednesday following a widespread two-day hunt.
Investigators had claimed the 55-year-old was preparing for 'an end-of-times event as prophesied by the Book of Revelations', according to ABC News...

The guy probably needed some help digging holes on his property, in order to bury more food. Spread a rumor to the feds, and see how quickly they dig up your property. Hopefully they won’t hold him on any bogus charges so he can make use of those holes.
I can't believe someone hasn't felt like they have been harassed enough, and nutted up on some government dip stick. I am not saying that should happen, only that it is bound to happen, sooner or later.
From earlier articles on this those “explosive devices” were pipes that would hold a shotgun shell. In other words, a homemade shotgun, which is not illegal if the length is over something like 26.5” overall.
5 rifles in a safe and food buried around the property? Interested in the Book of Revelations?
What’s going on here is a setup by a paid goon informant who likely went out of his way to entice him to sell him the homemade shotguns. I’d like to hear a tape of just exactly was said about all that between the two - wouldn’t surprise me if it was a Randy Weaver reprise.
The point is this government infiltrated this ‘network’ of his and intentionally set out to entrap him in my opinion.
It is a painful reminder that you have to keep your mouth shut if you are ‘prepping’
They don't need that. You turned yourself in as a prepper and put yourself on the list by posting here as a leader, although they don't (yet) have probable cause for a warrant and no one on FR can give that to them. All they need is some local shoplifter who will give them probable cause in return for dropping the charges against the petty thief: "Yup, I heard Kart say he had . . ."

So the FBI finds nothing but 5 guns locked in a safe and barrels of food and they keep this guy locked up. Why? Because it fits their prejudiced narrative that they wanted to find this guy guilty.
Perhaps they’ll go around now rounding up all the local conservative leaders so that when the hammer falls, people won’t have good men to lead them.

They can make any half serious shooting enthusiast into some raving lunatic, with enough arms and ammo stockpiled to "start a war". "They had an arsenal in their home, with children living there!!!"
I'd love to see how these morons may sensationalize a story, just after walking into one of my 'gun rooms'. It isn't AT ALL uncommon for someone to have thousands of rounds of ammunition.(Just a few cases)
They had "heard" there was a militia in this area ... and the whole thing escalated beyond normal, sane conversation.
It got down to; "Does your mother know you're still a liar" type questions and lawyers are afraid to go with jury nullification.
