Tea party Democrats do exist
WashPost ^ | July 5, 2011 | Aaron Blake

Is there such a thing as a tea party Democrat? The answer, it seems, is yes. Polls show the group exists, but determining its impact is difficult. [ snip ] ...

Recently, Republican leaders have gone out of their way to make the argument that the tea party is more than just a group of (somewhat) disaffected Republicans who are angry about government spending they perceive to be out of control and the large size of the federal government.

Republicans contend that the tea party movement ... includes not just Republicans but also independents and Democrats.

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) described the tea party this way: “It’s made up of disaffected Democrats. It’s made up of independents. It’s made up of people who have never been political a day in their life.”

I cannot seem to find a schedule for upcoming primaries. I have read in some other threads that it might be a good idea for Tea Party candidates to run in Dem primaries and maybe even get a win! I think that would be great.

Screw the GOPe and the DEMs....perhaps the Tea candidates should just run on both Dem and GOP primaries depending on the circumstances. I would vote a Tea Party Dem over many of the RINOs of which the list seems endless.

RUN TEA PARTY IN DEM PRIMARIES....

I know this is a 3 year old article, but I realy like the idea of Tea Party candidates running in Dem Contests....perhaps before the 2016 elections. That is enough time to figure out the details.

I haven’t had a chance to research Tuesday’s primaries. But my understanding is the Tea Party candidates lost across the board to incumbent Rinos. Is this true?

It's in the Washington comPost, therefore it is either disinformation or an outright lie.

I was a Reagan democrat in the 80’ landslide election, my first try as a voter, but my last vote as a democrat.

I don’t know, but there seems to be very little difference between GOPers and Dems. It may require formalizing the tea party as a true traditional conservative party and running our own slate of candidates.

perhaps it is a lie from WashPost, but if the GOPe won't let a Tea Party candidate win by throwing everything they can ....including pulling out Democrat voters to pull the establishment RINO over the finish line...., then I say run Tea Party candidates on the Democratic ballot also. Make both parties spend their time and money punching out the will of the people.

Tea Party candidates are always outspent by large amounts....and they often poll as the favorite candidate....umtil Washington insiders get desperate and find they have to throw piles of $$ and truck loads of lies to pull a win out of their asses

Reagan Democrats........may have been such a thing in the 1980s......especially in the South where most people used to be registered Dem regardless of political philosophy....but today????

The last Democrat politician who was a true conservative that I can think of was the late Congressman Larry McDonald D-GA who was murdered by the Soviets on board KAL flight 007.

I think the Tea Party vs GOP establishment struggle as it characterized in the media could be a little oversimplified.

It could also be characterized as an incumbent versus challenger struggle. Anyone who knows anything about Poli Sci 101, knows full well that it is enormously difficult to take out entrenched incumbents. It always has been and always will be. The Eric Cantor defeat was more of the exception to the rule than anything else.

The Tea Party’s best chances going forward will be when they run high quality candidates in for OPEN seats like they did in Nebraska earlier this year.

The GOP has been extra cautious this year. In 2012 two US Senate seats were needlessly thrown away to the Dems in states that MR easily carried. This fact has weighed heavily in the minds of GOP primary voters this year coupled with the fact that incumbents tend to have enormous built in advantages and usually win.

Recently, RINO Socialist tools have gone out of their way to make the argument that the tea party is more than just a group of (righteously) disaffected patriots who are angry about government spending they understand to be out of control and the tyrannical size of the federal government.

There, I fixed it.

Until the currency collapses and the guns come out. Let me know how it's going in down town Chicago when the welfare checks and food stamps are no longer worth anything.

Oh, dear, where shall we start? This poor, ignorant soul...desperate for clear, pure, information...can we break through the wall of willful, stubborn unknowing? I'll try.

Ever hear of Zell Miller? Ring a bell?

Can’t say about other T-party groups, but our local group has several democrats and they are the most vocal radical conservatives.

Ronald Wilson Reagan won two huge victories especially the first one running on and embracing grassroots conservatism. The Moral Majority likely had as many DEM’s in it as GOP and Independents. One of the founders of it was a DEM at the time. Of course there are Conservative DEMS but the GOP-E doesn’t care because they hate Conservatism as much as the Left Wing Liberals of the Democrat Party.
