What transpired in the Mississippi Senate run-off is a red line for many conservatives across the country, because the Republican Party establishment essentially took a civil war and escalated it to a war for independence.
Its one thing to oppose your base in a primary. Its entirely another to despicably play the race card against your base, and bolster the legitimacy of the propaganda of our race-baiting opponents on the Left. But thats exactly what the Kamikaze pilots running the GOP did. As a result, Chris McDaniel won Republican voters handily on Tuesday, but still lost the run-off statewide thanks to a 43 percent increase among voters in counties President Obama received at least two-thirds of the vote in 2012.
In other words, the GOP establishment used Obama/Alinsky race-baiting tactics against their own base, in order to drive out to the polls in a GOP primary the same low-information-voters that put and kept this Marxist in the White House (which I document here). An unpardonable sin considering there is no reason to go scorched earth against your own base in solidly Republican state except to send a message.
That message is this: if you threaten our corporatist gravy train we will go harder after you then we ever have Democrats.
Now that the message has been sent, there will not be an Appomattox moment in this conflict, when the two sides come back together after one of them has proven his point. The end result of this conflict will either be the defeat of the occupying army (the establishment) or conservatives will Dunkirk (bolt the GOP en masse). I say this not as someone who advocates a third party, although Im asked about it frequently. My typical response to the question is Id like to see what a second party looks like first.
Cochran will lose. He won this run-off with rat votes, and every MS conservative knows it, and is hopping mad. That is the difference between this and KY. For all McConnell’s trickks, he didn’t openly, brazenly turn to the rat constituency for votes, disenfranchising his own purported constituency of conservatives.
I think a problem a lot of harder conservative and Tea Party folks don’t have a grip on is that most people likely to vote for Republicans get alienated because while they agree with conservative principles, they derive some benefit from the status quo (government handouts for a developmentally disabled child in the family, for example) and when push comes to shove, they like it.
As long as they’re selling what people aren’t buying, when it comes to a vote, they will consistently (but not exclusively) a buck short.
Fairly clear now that the tree of liberty needs watering or it will die.
60 thousand or so NO votes, which is what a write in vote in Mississippi would be, would allow cochran to lose with the “Real Republicans” not having to vote for a democrat. After all, both nominees were selected by democrats. I plan to do this I would like to see an organized effort and we should all write in the same name. While we blame the gop, Missippi gop, RNSC, the cochran campaign, the barbours, except for Jeppie Barbour, most of our Mississippi elected officials who saw this coming, let’s not forget the NRA who forgave thad for his anti-gun votes to give him an A+ and endorsement but ignored the pro gun votes and legislation of Senator McDaniel whose stand on NRA and gunowners was un-blemished. Chris was endorsed by GOA.
I don’t want the Dems to control the Senate but I also don’t want to see this machine politics of the moderate incumbent vile tactics go unanswered.
They need a wake up call.
Which is one reason I belong to GOA and not NRA.
Cochran can’t count on the rat votes he courted to win the run-off, and he won’t be getting conservative votes, so I don’t see how he can possibly win.
Speaking as 50+ year loyal Republican who has never missed an election, primary, runoff, voted for a democrat and who has worked for and contributed to Republican candidates including those primary winners or nominees he didn’t support in primaries. What is our majority in the House doing for us, they vote to spend more money, increase the national debt, fund obamacare. They have investigative committees but what has been accomplished on the IRS, Benghazi, fast and furious, VA, enforcing our current immigration laws, protecting our borders, etc.? Sure yhere are a few of them, I hope, who would actually do something but they are stymied by leadership and rinos. So sending a rino who was nominated by democrats who are demandig all kinds of larder being cast their way , including rescending the states Voter ID law, is going to help us how?
I agree - I hate the thought of voting for a Democrat. On the other hand, If we allow Cochran to win, then we have effectively submitted to, and endorsed, the betrayal. Will have to ponder it between now and November.
For what it’s worth, the L Party in MS issued a statement supporting investigation of potential fraud in this run-off.
I have said before, that under the circumstances, conservatives are going to get a licking. We can however choose whetehr it’s short and sweet, or a drawn-out escalation of these tactics by the GOPe.
“Cochran must be made to feel a pariah by the rest the Republican Party.”
And the barbours, except for Jeppie who has departed from the family before to support true Conservatives which he did again in this race.
I live next door to MS. I have a few Conservative friends that live in MS. They are very determined to vote for Childers.
What the eivl GOPe did with those racist ads is unforgivable.
The way they smeared us in the Tea Party is unforgivable.
Seeing the evil Barbour machine defeated in Nov will be a delight.
Hey Karl is that you?
So, you are okay with those evil unforgivable rascist ads that smeared Tea Party people?
I have a few Conservative friends in MS, they are planning to vote for Childers.
What happened in MS is absolutely unforgivable.
Yea, they disgust me. I pray that Thad gets crushed in November.
The evil GOPe must know their days are numbered.
Let the GOPe move to the party of their soul -- the RAT party.
This, however, isn’t a case of Cochran getting or not getting so-called moderate or centrist votes. He won with votes from rats, which he won’t be getting in the GE, and he won’t be getting conservative votes. How does he win? Not with my vote, for sure.
Welcome, but if you aren't in revolt over this, you're still on the sidelines. Just saying.
Win the Senate back first, then defeat the RINOs. It is a long War. Dont lose the war because of bad decisions in the smaller skirmishes.
“The tactic that drags on becomes a drag.”
Your GOP-elite have played that card for too damned many election cycles. They need to crawl ten miles over broken glass, apologize to us for their betrayal and finally kiss their own asses.
Then we’ll think about supporting them.
Ms is a perfect opportunity to elect a conservative from a third party. You have 2 democrats running and no conservative. Get behind a 3rd party maybe the Constitution Party, maybe the LP or if the Reform Party still exists maybe it. But pick a 3rd party and elect their candidate.
That’s why Fox News enjoys such high ratings. The people wanted something that wasn’t provided by the market. Meanwhile we’ve got idiots telling us to vote for the Liberal with the “R” next to their name.
That’s absolutely true.
And everytime something like this happens, we hear “let’s just win this/election/the White House/the Senate/dogcatcher, then we can fix it. Always “next time”, but next time never comes, and the GOPe gets the message loud and clear that they can not only keep screwing us, they can do it harder and with no lube.
