There was no excuse for this, and the cops that are standing around making excuses for him are as guilty as he is. He is untrustworthy and obviously untrained and is a danger to society. He should lose his job

From the link.

"It would be irresponsible of me to go into tremendous detail there because we still have an investigative process to take place," Burbank said.

Translation:

We don't have our "story" strait yet so I have say nothing until we get the script out to all involved.

After all who best to guard the hen house than the fox?

Cops are worthless savages these days no better than the “perps” they throw in the slammer. I used to have respect for them, after years and hundreds of horrible episodes of brutish behavior, I hold them in no higher regard than an Al Qaeda terrorist out for blood.
To serve their unions and protect their pensions! That’s all that counts!

I am about ready to side with PETA’s efforts to give dogs the same rights as a human being. About the only way I can see to make cops think twice about killing man’s best friend.

“He drove home and demanded answers about the incident from several police officers who were outside his house.”

He’s lucky they didn’t gun him down on the spot.

You don’t need to go that far.

From as far back as the code of Hammurabi, to the laws in the Old Testament, animals have been protected by law. That’s enough. But cops have to be held to the same standard as somebody else.

Thanks, I called and left a message after being transferred from dispatch. Told them they might also want to keep their eyes open for toddlers wielding pop tarts.

“I did backyard pool service for awhile. Didn’t shoot a single dog.”

Exactly. I read meters for 5 1/2 years, never shot a dog. And I met with thousands of them. Pepper sprayed a few maybe 3 in all that time.

It’s called using common sense.

"The cop could have backed off. How many postal workers shoot dogs? Since this is Salt Lake City, how many 'missionaries' shoot dogs?"

Also, how many meter readers for the Gas Co. shoot dogs?

This is another sign that the government, and all its agencies, have no regard for the people, or knowledge of the Constitution, and are completey out of control.

Wow..that's slippery slope nobody wants to go down...

First dogs, then cats, then cows, then pigs, then fish...

No thanks...we have enough wackos animal rights out there...no need to give them actual legal power...

Well There you have it.”It was all done for a child. The answer for every liberal.

If they killed my dog I think I would be just as angry as the owner of this K9 victim.

These Law Enforcement agencies had better wake up.Because by doing stupid,Irresponsible things they are loosing Friends fast.

If a Home has a fenced in yard stay the hell out until the owner can secure his animal.

"... Imagine what the outcry would be if … something tragic happened to the child, and we didn’t go into any yards that were fenced, we didn’t look anywhere we had access to," Burbank said.

You know, like the basement where the little boy was found sleeping in his very own house. Child wasn't missing at all if anyone had cared to actually look.

Yet this responding officer the Chief Burbank is defending didn't look in the basement, but instead tore off down the street jumping fences and shooting dogs.

I suppose we should also credit the Salt Lake City Police Department for not jumping in their MRAP and crashing it through some random citizen's home. Gosh, thanks SLCPD!

Put me on a jury and the only issue would be how many zeros behind the the first digit in the judgment against the police department.

What they are losing is trust. A Republic cannot survive without trust.
