Black Democrats Tell Thad Cochran: We Own You Now

Nothing in life is free. And now that Sen. Thad Cochran (R-MS) was able to narrowly beat his Tea Party rival, due to thousands of black Democrats who crossed party lines to vote in the GOP primary runoff, his new constituency is looking to cash in on their influence.

In their minds, Cochran, who is in line to chair the powerful Senate Appropriations Committee if Republicans take back the Senate, is now a part of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC)--and should vote like a CBC member.

According to Politico, "Members of the Congressional Black Caucus are talking about what they want Cochran to do" if he gets re-elected for another six-year term. Their wishlist includes "maintaining funding for food stamps, beefing up programs that help poor blacks in Mississippi and even supporting the Voting Rights Act."

And he could care less as long as he continues to get re-elected. They are just one more snout in the trough for Thad to feed with the cash he squeezes out of the budget for MS.

You see, he should have made all the walking around money he dumped through Liberal (we all know what that's code for, right? /sarc) Pastors and churches contingent on further support come November.

Very shortsighted of him. Then again, I'm not sure Thad even remembers to go to the bathroom these days ...

Cochran screwed his conservative constituents and will now screw his liberal constituents. Thad loves screwing his constituency for fun and profit.

Why would anyone vote for Cochran now? And those folks who voted like slaves seriously think the plantation owner owes the ANYTHING?

I don't think he can. There have been a number of threads here citing MS elections law about how write-ins are only permitted if one of the candidates on the ballot leaves the race.

McDaniels is going for having the election thrown out, which is the right way to go.

LOL! Cochran’s loyalty has never been in question! He, the whore that he is, is available to any K-street donor with the cash to pay for his services.

We can do better.

We Own You Now

Well, yes, in the sense of "you break it, you bought it." Unless they're planning to put him in office themselves they're out of luck on this one.
