That’s true, as far as it goes. But you’re implying the problem with Israel’s military is one of competence.
Nothing could be further from the truth. If anything, Israel’s military prowess is BETTER than that of “your grandfather’s Israel”. MUCH better. With an all-important intelligence capability second to NONE in the WORLD.
No, the problems with Israel’s military is that they haven’t the WILL to defeat their enemies.
(We in the US have precisely the same problem.)
Israel could have thoroughly kicked butt in Lebanon in 2006. HAD THEY BEEN WILLING. Hezbollah was nothing near a match for Israel, except for the WILL TO DO WHATEVER WAS NECESSARY TO WIN.

Long, long ago, the LORD GOD instructed the Israelites to utterly destroy certain groups of Philistines and Canaanites. In other words, wipe out the DNA of that vermin. It has always been man’s sinful proclivity to disobey the LORD. Their disobedience has come back on them a hundredfold.
The ONLY way there will be peace.
Prime Minister Netanyahu finds the PA very useful. It helps Israel avoid putting their soldiers right in the middle of Palestinian enclaves.
In fact about a year or so ago, there was some bill in Congress to cut off some funding to the PA. Netanyahu pleaded with Congressional members to not cut it off ... and they listened to him and didn’t do it.
Israel doesn’t do WAR CRIMES and indiscriminately target civilians. They scrupulously avoid any collateral damage to Palestinian civilians and directly target the terrorist operatives.

Israel is not a THEOCRACY ... but a member of “the West” and as a modern democratic country — upholds the rights of all civilians, either under military or civilian control. They also uphold all religious rights of the major religions ... and protect all religious sites.

I beg to differ. Israel is EXACTLY a theocracy, struggling to reconcile that with the demands of their political existence as a democracy.

Israel is not a theocracy, as it has leaders who are ARAB Muslims, non-religious Jews and ordinary secular Jews (who may have personal faith too) along with a SMALL group of some religious people.
