Unaccompanied children are crossing at an alarming rate, and now many will be heading to Dallas.

"We cannot turn our back on these children that are already here," Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins said.

Judge Jenkins announced that Dallas County would be the first county in the state to offer housing.

Terry Henderson is in charge of disaster relief for the Texas Baptist Men.

He's been waiting an announcement like this for more than a month.

"I kind of had a heads up no matter where it was going to happen in Texas that we were going to be involved because we have already been involved along the border."

What are you detracting from Ted Cruz for? Is that something to enjoy doing? It seems like a thing to do for some around here

In keeping with that I’m certain this won’t satisfy you. You’d have done the quick google search yourself if so, instead of demanding it , acting like the little kid I just witnessed taking the attention of his whole family and those around him away from the church service

It wasn’t about him and his demands

And where is Ted Cruz strongly denouncing this invasion? Show me a youtube or Fox video of Ted Cruz before 6:49 CDT 7/6/14 doing this, then I will retract.

BTW, Stanne, where is Dan Patrick, who I voted for twice during the primary process.

He's been missing during this crisis also.

"You want them to WALK back home?? Air is faster."

Tell you what, since you're so warm and fuzzy about giving them a thrilling plane ride, you can pony up the funds for it and leave the rest of the taxpayers out of it. For the ones you can't cover, old buses will get them to their destinations just fine.

Wow how Nancy Pelosi or Hillary of you.

Is your boss Ted Cruz so afraid of knowing the facts of the current illegal invasion?

Doesn’t surprise me one bit that a Christian group would step in here, showing the face of Jesus to kids who are being used as pawns by evil forces.

Sorry, Jesus came to fulfill the law, not enable those that want to ignore it, and that is exactly what this group of Baptist men are doing.

If they want to do the righteous thing, don't enable Obama, the Left, and GOP-E to use these kids as talking points.

The “don’t enable” argument has the problem that it never will stop. God Himself would never show any grace if He were worried about “don’t enable.” The big picture needs to be looked at.

While God will talk to our hearts and convict us out of love while we are actively sinning, he will not answer our prayers and cannot save us until we acknowledge our wrong-doing.

Those who are breaking our laws and coming to take the freebies that our broken system offers are nothing better than thieves and robbers and a good analogy can be made to John 10:1

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.

Such too are those who refuse, in a secular manner, to come in by the already proscribed legal manner, but instead, come up by some other way to take what is not theirs legally, taxpayer provided social benefits.

Furthermore, the Old Testament is clear, that those who are visitors in foreign countries are to obey those laws.

God does not enable a sinner when He saves them, he requires a Repentance, or an acknowledgement (at least) of the sinfulness of their behavior before he will save the sinner.

These Baptist Men are truly enabling those who would break our laws to do just that.

Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins will visit an immigrant youth detention camp in South Texas Wednesday for a personal look at the problem he has offered to help solve in North Texas.

Leaders of North Texas charity organizations met with Jenkins Tuesday to help develop a Dallas County immigrant youth housing plan.

Jenkins has agreed to accept around 2,000 of the young people who’ve flooded across the south Texas border from other countries since last fall.

Dallas County to House 2,000 Border Children

“We have a humanitarian crisis,” Jenkins said. “We have the capability here in Dallas and Dallas County to do something. Not very many places do.”

Among the groups offering to help is Texas Baptist Men, which is already providing laundry and shower facilities at a Brownsville immigrant youth camp.

Texas Baptist Men Spokesman Terry Henderson has spent time at the Brownsville facility.

“I actually witnessed 2 and 3-year-olds that came across the border just with kids, kids in their teenage years, no adults,” Henderson said.

Henderson said the children told him they were told by their parents to go to the men in green uniforms when they crossed the border to find a bettter life.

Law Protects Unaccompanied Children Crossing Border

Now, those Border Patrol officers who wear green are overwhelmed.

“Their concern is the safety of the children. Even though they’re there to catch the bad guys, they really don’t have time to do that. They’re having to make sure the kids are safe,” Henderson said.

Texas Baptist Men is one group in a coalition called Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD).

VOAD Vice President Nikki Beneke said churches and other social organization have expressed interest in helping the immigrant children in Dallas County.

“And I think it’s an opportunity for our community to come together to assist these children to have a better life,” Beneke said.

But Dallas County leaders are also hearing from critics concerned about the cost and long-term impact of Jenkins’ plan.

Resident Ken Harris spoke at Tuesday’s Commissioners Court meeting.

“This migrant population will remain here permanently in the city for the duration of their young lives,” Harris said.

Jenkins said the Federal policy not to deport unescorted minors was established by an executive order of Former President George W. Bush in 2008.

He said that order set up the system being used now to turn the minors over to the care of U.S. Health and Human Services for possible placement with relatives in the U.S. or foster care.
