Weren’t there several killed by an explosion at this same facility a few years ago? The name is familiar.

yes. I can’t recall, but I don’t think they have been fully up for too long. Wow.

I looked on www.nwcn.com news site, nothing yet. Hwy 2 closed up near Leavenworth due to forest fires though.

The fires are currently towering above the tank farm. There are at least two major flames visible from several miles away. One of the fires is sending up a column of thick black smoke. The other flares up above the tank farm and then subsides before flaring up again. The refinery spokesman’s telephone number says to leave a message. Nothing seen so far at the Seattle Post Intelligencer, FoxNews, etc.

Just cycled through all of the local channels up here. There isn’t a peep on ANY channel. If there was a big fire at the refinery, SOMEONE would say something, don’t you think?

Still not seeing anything on local (Seattle) news or on Twitter. Keep us updated, please.

Yes, but no one seems to know anything about it. The spokesman for the refinery has a recorded message saying to leave a message. The Anacortes Police department says they have no information they can give out, and contact the Tesoro refinery.

Nonetheless, there are two fires ablaze that are sending up flames up to double the height of the tanks in the tank farm. Go figure....

Everything in automotive fuel is no lead and has been for eons. Aviation piston engines still use 100LL I think.

Well, I just Tweeted one of the local news stations, asking if anyone’s heard anything. No reply as yet.

No ethanol premium is 4.89 here in eastern WA and I shudder to think of that headed higher. May not get the boat out at all at this rate.

Scanner action for Skagit County last 5 minutes.

A girl living behind the funeral home swallowed a nickle and has now thrown it up.

I live just a couple of miles across the water from Tesoro. I noticed the smoke but none of their alarm sirens have gone off. You can easily hear those for 15-20 miles. That refinery was built in the mid-50s as a Shell refinery.

The Leavenworth fire is visible in the east way beyond the mountains.
