“Who the hell are the Donetskians to declare that their little piece of dirt is sacred and no one can fly over it???”

The “Donetskians” shouldn’t have had to....
Malaysian’s Risk Management Department, and dispatchers, as well as their Foreign Office/State Department/whatever, should have made that call DAYS AGO...

It is an ACTIVE WAR ZONE, for chrissakes.

They weren’t alone in saying planes should not fly over the war zone area.....

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Federal Aviation Administration had warned U.S. pilots earlier this year not to fly over portions of the Ukraine in the Crimea region, according to notices posted on the agency’s website.

The notices were posted on April 23. The U.N.’s International Civil Aviation Organization and the aviation authorities in most countries issue ‘similar notices for areas where unrest or military conflict creates a risk of being shot down.’

Scroll down in the Daily Mail article and you will see the No Fly Zone and that zone does not cover Donetsk. It is further south over Crimea.

There will be plenty of evidence regardless....

The evidence isn't the problem...how it will be determined , by International Leaders, that it will be reported and framed with all the political slant needed to keep things from escalating more than what it already is in Ukraine.

was deemed a “no fly zone” by US aviation overlords but not by all countries as i understand, also per Malaysia prime minister they were cleared and got the ‘go ahead’ on taking that route by ‘international’ aviation overlords, but first i heard pilot took that route to.. if u believe this.. “save fuel”

HEEEEEY!! I was waiting for you nutjobs to show up!

I guess you finally got your marching orders from Putin, and now you’re here spreading more propaganda.

Here’s a question for you....nevermind a plane flying over Eastern Ukraine, why the hell are Russians funding a war in Ukraine and taking over territory? Why are the shooting down airplanes?

WHY ARE THE RUSSIANS SHOOTING DOWN SEVERAL AIRCRAFT IN A SOVEREIGN NATION?

Sorry...but with or without warning....you don't do stupid things like fly over a heavily involved conflict zone with both sides firing Grads and heavy military equipment......

Good grief!... common sense has been lost by those who imagine every decision has to be “ordered” time and again and repeated at length, time and date...before an action is tabled or carried out.

The pilot went into a known war zone with heavy artillery going on all week from both sides......it was an active war zone.

At 33,000 feet that airliner should have been at a safe altitude above a war zone.

And the No Fly Zone covered Crimea and southeastern Ukraine — not Donetsk.

There is no way to blame the pilot on this one.

“The Malaysians are asking for the people responsible to be turned over to a war crimes tribunal —”

Being in the business, and having spent several years as one myself in the past, the MOST “responsible parties” here are the Dispatchers at Malaysian Airlines HQ that OK’d a flight over a KNOWN WAR ZONE....

It is their JOB to know this stuff, pay attention to it, and to make routing decisions accordingly!!

The air route was "declared safe." Oh well. Anyway, it looks like allot of civilian planes were flying here. Foolish? Yes.

For the same reason the US and Nato are involved in Ukraine. Where have you been? This war’s been going on for months now with US supplying military equipment as well as Russia.

You might also ask why is Kiev Government ordering consistant aerial bombardment throughout the EAst.

Sheesh! It’s a war....and that with many moving parties and equipment.

im no military guru or nothing but, if a missile will travel 77,000 feet, how are you “safe” at 33,000 feet, as per Oliver North the BUK missiles or whatever will travel up to 77,000 feet...just asking

It’s Russia invading a sovereign nation and taking out aircraft.

It’s Ukraine defending itself from Russia. How about Russia leaves it’s neighboring countries alone?

...”Dispatchers at Malaysian Airlines HQ that OK’d a flight over a KNOWN WAR ZONE....”....

They’ve been making some serious errors of judgement...this isn’t the first time as we know. Additionally I understand they give their pilots room to make changes off course. It’s been said this pilot moved off course.

Either way.....the plane should not have been there in the first place. If you look at the flight maps before this incident...you see most planes directed around Ukraine.

Oh come on now...great story but you know it’s not true.

You do know that you are on a conservative forum where people value freedom and sovereignty right?

You do know that we don’t buy your BS propoganda, right?

You do realize that the Russians fighting in Ukraine already admitted to shooting it down. I think you’re a little late to the party.

Your serious right???

He was at 33,000 ft and well above the fray except for those lowlife's with SAMs all hyped up on drugs.

If Russia can't protect the international flight routes that pass over its territory, and it is claiming Donetsk as its territory, then Putin should step down.

“The air route was “declared safe.””

The Air Route could have declared “Protected by God Himself!”, but any RESPONSIBLE dispatcher would know that aircraft were being shot down in the area for two weeks and more.

Again, aside from the shootdown itself, what idiot dispatcher OK’s any flight over AN ACTIVE WAR ZONE??

The Black Box will tell the truths here, and any attempt to alter them will be easily detected by Boeing. The original routing sent from dispatch should have been entered in the onboard computer before takeoff.

Any changes will also be listed.

Ah it’s the pilots fault the Russians shot missiles at it.

Got it, comrade.
