In all fairness I travel a whole lot

People in some places take a lot of effort to get them to warm up

Pacific northwest coast....new mexico....michigan....in places....new england

But when coming back and I hit Kansas City and Missouri and hear occasional southern accent you just know

Its universal....even foreigners know it

When I was in the Army Medical corp, one of my instructors was a female Major from Virginia. From what I remember she hailed from the “Hunt Country.” Her accent was exquisite. It was sort of cross of an English and a southern accent. The way I could describe it was soft spoken and genteel. Very polite soft spoken but she got her point across very well. Sort a Scarlett O'Hara at her charming best.
