I think you misunderstood my words, so I'll try again. I don't see an apostolic example of that line of thought, that Americans who do not share that view on the illegitimacy of kings and governors and the legitmacy of armed rebellion, should change their citizenship and homeland for historical events that occurred 250 years ago although that would be preferable to rebellion and taking up arms now. I have to conclude that would be erroneous as well. I can see how the view that the Rebellion and it's civil war was justified by scripture could lead other rebels to advocate taking up arms against their government even now, repeating the same ungodly errors over and over again. Rebellion breeds rebels and they imagine they are doing the LORD's work.

To ignore, gainsay, or pervert the apostolic teaching, which I posted, is foolish and dangerous.

I’ll stick with the more thorough explanation provided by Martin. He seems to be right on this issue, even addressing the Romans 13 admonition with biblical aplomb.

Not necessarily, but that was the point. They did think about whether it would be sinful or not, and the Founding Fathers decided it wasn’t. There were other people at that time who felt it was, and did not lend their voices or support to the endeavor. Tories were not just Tories because they supported the King, but some truly believed it would be a sin to go against duly authorized authority.
