BALTIMORE - As dusk crept over Collington Square Park, in east Baltimore, the children's chatter of questions began.
"What time is my curfew?" "What if I'm out with my brother and he's 18?" "If I hide, can I still stay out and play?"

I wonder if all yutes need a curfew?
It’s like a bad feedback loop. A growing government leads to dependency on the government, leads to no consequence for ones actions, leads to children unsupervised by their own parents, leads to crime, leads to a growing government.
New? We had curfew laws back in the 1950s and 60s.
Would it be insensitive of me to ask why the fathers of these children weren’t interviewed for this article?
How will the cops know how old they are?
They would need an ID, and that’s racis
No mention of fathers.
The only thing Lefties know how to do or want to do is punish the innocent and reward the guilty.
No, not insensitive. Racist maybe, but not insensitive.
I always had a curfew. Be back home before dinner. End of story.
“Racist maybe, but not insensitive.”
There’s no mention of race in this article. But there is a strong indication of the problems surrounding single parenthood.
So how was my post “racist”, Paulie?
I was only being sarcastic; do not take offense.
In addition, when there is no mention of race, there’s a very probability they are not white, yellow, or red, which I’m sure you know.
Again, if you got the impression I was trying to needle you, you have misunderstood me.
You 'aint playin'--don't give dat bulls--t. (I love it when thy try to make thugs out to be innocent children)
They have either hit the road or are in the Maryland penal system.
In a place like the City of Baltimore, where many parents do not perform their parental duties, it is necessary to have a curfew law in order to protect the public from lawless teenagers preying on innocent victims.
“No mention of fathers.”
For a growing portion of our population (of all colors) the concept is as alien as “W-2”...
Beat-up little seagull
On a marble stair
Tryin’ to find the ocean
Lookin’ everywhere
Hard times in the city
In a hard town by the sea
Ain’t nowhere to run to
There ain’t nothin’ here for free
Hooker on the corner
Waitin’ for a train
Drunk lyin’ on the sidewalk
Sleepin’ in the rain
And they hide their faces
And they hide their eyes
‘Cause the city’s dyin’
And they don’t know why
Oh, Baltimore
Man, it’s hard just to live
Oh, Baltimore
Man, it’s hard just to live, just to live
Get my sister Sandy
And my little brother Ray
Buy a big old wagon
Gonna haul us all away
Livin’ in the country
Where the mountain’s high
Never comin’ back here
‘Til the day I die
Oh, Baltimore
Man, it’s hard just to live
Oh, Baltimore
Man, it’s hard just to live, just to live

No offense taken, Paulie. Your post underscores perfectly how absolutely difficult it is these days to have any sort of honest discussion these days about race, without immediately being chastised with the “racist” label. Meaning, of course, that any facts you may present are instantly negated.
“Nation of cowards” indeed. The real cowardice is the refusal of the left to see the horrible downward spiral of the black nuclear family as a direct result of “the Great Society” and the folly of its continuation through ever more generational dependance.
But this pathological subculture still gets worshiped in our mass media, is held blameless for their plight, and has spilled into formerly safe neighborhoods. But better not mention it, as seeing the elephant in the living room is now a worse crime than initially allowing it in...
