She looked so terrific and strong for such a long time that it was easy to imagine Lauren Bacall might just hang around forever. And who wouldn’t want her to, for the pleasure of hearing her firing off smart, unvarnished remarks about old Hollywood in that husky voice? But the end came at last on Tuesday, when the 89-year-old actress died from a stroke at her home, according to a report on TMZ.

Yes, I watched some of those again. I enjoy all of the Myrna Loy/William Powell movies. Class acts.

I agree with you that they were underrated. Myrna Loy was a very attractive woman and in her younger days was sultry. I saw her play a Gypsie in one of her early “talkies” and what a woman. LOL

She was great in “The best years of our lives”. One of my favorite movies of all time.

I think Powell’s last movie was “Mr. Roberts”. Good part.

The director of McLintock is also still alive. Andrew V Mclaglen. He’s in his mid 90s.

Rhonda Fleming is also still alive. She’s 91 (and a conservative).

BTW. “Captain Blood” was on TCM about a month ago, I think. :)

Most of the great actors of yesteryear were conservative and most of the great producers, directors and screen writers were conservative. And if not, they would be conservative if they were around today.

You know Bendy, you're not very hard to figure, only at times... Sometimes I know exactly what you're going to say. Most of the time.

The other times... the other times, you're just a stinker.

What did you do that... for?

I've been wondering if I'd like it.... It's even better when you help.

You know you don't have to act with me, Bendy... You don't have to say anything, and you don't have to do anything. Not a thing.

Oh, maybe just whistle. You know how to whistle, don't you, Bendy? You just put your lips together and.. blow.

Just my luck... they didn't install my pucker!

Then-- Gadzooks! I... woke up!

Heh... She was attractive when she was younger (her Russian ancestry, IIRC). The only downside was I never cared for her voice. Although it was naturally deep, I thought it sounded too much like an ashtray. I like a softer, sweeter, girlish voice... like Laz’s. ;-D

His father, victor was a great actor. He and John Wayne were great together.

I’m guessing Joey Bishop, but he was a brown-noser...

Excellent news! Let’s hope that the Hollywood liberals keep dying en masse; one less liberal means less money in the coffers of Communists. Keep up the imprecatory prayers, everyone!

She was great in Key Largo and The Big Sleep, both with Bogie. And in How to Marry a Millionaire with Marilyn Monroe. RIP Lauren Bacall, reunited with Humphrey Bogart.

O'Hara was gorgeous in Parent Trap. Wayne/O'Hara movies were McLintock!, The Quiet Man and Big Jake.

And Rio Grande.

My cousin was killed in a single-engine plane crash back in March. Thankfully, he did not have any of the children in the plane with him.
