Johnson might be a black political cop, but at least he's from MO. I don't think importing an out-of-state police figure is good precedent.
I'm not seeing that. The argument is that bringing out the toys of militarized police units sets a dangerous precedent and incites those who are just looking for a reason to riot.
I don't know the answer. What's happening with a lot of situations is part of Chaos Theory. Whenever natural, normal processes are thwarted, the next reaction will be more extreme. If this goes on long enough, the reactions will be so extreme and uncontrollable they'll create chaos. We're seeing this globally and nationally in so many situations....civilization is on the edge of tangential chaos.
The governor did the correct thing putting the black guy from the area in charge. Problem is things are so far gone a lot of the disenfranchised but pampered underclass have nothing better to do but riot.
Using those tanks and tear gas etc is a slippery slope. What happens when someone fires some shots (could easily be a provocateur) at a conservative rally? Will it be tanks and tear gas?

Forcing cops to accept and salute Gloria Steinem’s political beliefs has already cost cops their lives. The male cops get shot when a females is relieved of her gun because HE is the threat.
IFIR it was Howard Stern who 20 or 30 yrs ago mockingly challenged a girl cop to come to the studio and “arrest” him.
Once the powers that be were cunning and sagacious enough to make patently obvious concessions to reality such as not pairing 2 women. The further people drift into un-realaity however the less they actually know or recognize...REALITY!

(not related to my comments, just a random thought) Reading the posts this AM has been an eye opener that scares me. If looters and robbers who run away from police aren't shot as a policy, that's where we've lost all sanity and ability to control the thugs.
Anyone who doesn't stop when police tell them to should expect to be shot. JMHO
I remember in 1964 the NYC riots were set off when police officers shot a black teen. That set off a chain of riots in black cities across the country for the next five years or so. All sorts of laws and giveaways were passed which were going to fix the problem. The problem still hasn’t been fixed. The solution by politicians: pass more laws and programs to “help” the black individuals and communities. Yeah, that’ll work. (snicker)
