The average price for all types of ground beef per pound hit its all-time high -- $3.884 per pound -- in the United States in July, according to data released today by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).

That was up from $3.880 per pound in June. A year ago, in July 2013, the average price for a pound of ground beef was $3.459 per pound. Since then, the average price for a pound of ground beef has gone up 42.1 cents--or about 12 percent.

Five years ago, in July 2009, the average price for a pound of ground beef was $2.147, according to the BLS. In those five years, the average price has climbed by $1.737 per pound--or almost 81 percent.

In January 1967, when the BLS started tracking this measure, the index for meats, poultry, fish, and eggs was 38.1. As of last July, it was 236.147. By this January, it hit 240.006. By June, it hit 253.318. And, in July, it climbed to a record 254.174.

I know that there is heavy machinery to harvest corn....my point is that people are getting free everything and have no actual farming skills or understanding where things come from. Corn was not always harvested that way on small farms either.

“no problemo...you can overnight FedEx me one but only if they turn out A+”

They turned out perfect! So good that they all got gobbled up, sorry none left to send you.

Buffalo is now my 2nd favorite meat, just below Elk.

Thanks for the tips, guys.

Yes I did, both sides with Olive oil. Did season it with some sage & a little fresh garlic mixed in. Then threw on some Mesquite chips for the last 10 minutes.

The meat was so lean that I was sure it would be dry. It was moist, juicy and absolutely delicious. We waited for you to show up and since you didn’t we ate every last bite.

Am thinking about getting some ‘back-strap’ for our next BBQ, but may have to sell a couple of acres of land to afford it.

No wonder the Indians were so PO’d when the white man came in and slaughtered their buffalo for the hides and tongues!

I’ll make it next time! Delish! With such dry meat it could have failed.

Here is a Vietnamese style hamburger if you ever want to try it. http://whiteonricecouple.com/recipes/best-umami-hamburger-recipe/

Sling shots today are more than adequate for small game hunting. If you use rocks instead of steel balls they are practically free.
