"Smartest move I’ve seen out of this administration in a while.
We don’t have to love Assad to have a common enemy."

Bump that. I don't no what all the hoopla is about it.

I apologize if you don’t get it. It’s ok. We, the USA did train fund and arm several terrorist groups to overthrow Assad. Last fall those groups did indeed throw in their support ti ISIS. That is a fact, not an internet conspiracy. ISIS is using the tactics taught in those CIA training camps to evade our detections. They have learned well. So yes we bear much of the responsibility of what ISIS is doing today. I know, I know, Obama is important to you. You’ll get over this soon enough. By the way, we didn’t create Al Qeada, Osama Bin Laden did. And no we didn’t arm him, he armed himself. And yes many reporters have confirmed the uniting of the opposition groups in Syria last Fall

"Somebody must be overruling Obama".

IMO, it's the Joint Chiefs and top brass generals in the field scattered throughout the hot spots.

I think the officers in the highest ranks have given Obama the word to ship up or ship out. I seriously believe this. They are soldiers and fighters, not lily-livered regime diplomats and sinister Obama appointees....and they're certainly tired of being baby-sitters during Obama's erratic, unstable moods and whims.

There are subtle clues to high-echelon military unrest and frustration almost every night on the TV line-ups.

Wouldn’t surprise me if TPTB, the Saudis IMO, had him made into a martyr in the not too distant future. Such would likely sway fence sitting libtard opinion into electing yet another Marxist more to the liking of the royal families. This ISIS thing has them a bit spooked.

I agree.

I’ve said for some time that he will be made a martyr. All the scandals go away and like you say, another Marxist takes his place to continue the dirty work. Much like LBJ getting things done after JFK was killed.

Gen. Lloyd Austin wanted to leave up to 24,000 troops in Iraq, since Obama overruled him on that, speculation is that now since that didn’t work, top Military is directing the action.

Exactly. I still think it’s likely he’ll be made into a martyr. The powers that be know what a disaster he is and they’ll use that to their advantage.

The enemy of my enemy is not necessarily my friend.

You don't have to be friends to be allies. During WWII, we were allied with the Soviets, who were obviously our enemy from the day the Bolsheviks took power. We allied with the Khmer Rouge, another enemy, to get Vietnam to leave Cambodia. We allied with China, yet another enemy, to help supply the Afghan resistance during the Afghan-Soviet War. Foreign policy is no different from the life of any small business owner. There are multiple adversaries popping up all the time, and there is no end to them.

Before THAT, Kerry was buddies with him. He and Terezuh went to have dinner with Mr & Mrs Assad.

In most wars, past and present, none of the participants were/are people we would consider to be “good guys.” Most would be considered to be bad guys. Right now, ISIS seems to be the worst of the bad guys. Assad has no intentions of conquering the world, but his backers in Iran do. So we would be careful, keep our eyes open, and our powder dry.

A really, really smart move would be to unfriend Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

We're allies, not friends. There's a difference. Without Uncle Sam as referee, the region fights several wars and becomes a single oil-producing empire, instead of a dozen. Which doubles or triples oil prices. Which is why we're allies - to keep our economy from tanking under the onslaught of higher oil prices.

We're not Ukraine's friend either. We're pressuring the Russians to leave because at 2.5x the next largest country, Russian territorial expansion helps it acquire resources that makes it much stronger, perhaps strong enough to conquer the West. As a capitalist country, Russia is in a position to rival pre-war Germany, economically-speaking, in a way the former Soviet Union found impossible. As a society that has never given up its imperial ambitions, to the point of retaining many Soviet symbols and institutions, Russia will once again seek its day in the sun via military conquest. When that happens, we will be better off if the start line is on the Ukrainian rather than the Polish border. Which is why we are offering verbal support towards helping Ukraine retain its territory, despite Ukraine not being a friend.

True, the CIA started their friendship with Saddam in the 1970’s. I think Carter had a friendship with him when he came to ultimate power in 1979
