Rand Paul: Hillary's 'war hawk' policies led to Benghazi attack, rise of ISIS
Breitbart News ^ | 27 Aug 2014 | Matthew Boyle

Posted on 08/28/2014 7:53:52 PM PDT by Plummz

Paul expanded on his remarks and offered a detailed rendering of his views on foreign policy that, regardless of their merits, are undoubtedly innovative for a man likely to seek the GOP's presidential nomination in 2016. … :

While Muammar Gaddafi, or Syrian dictator Bashar Al-Assad, or Iraq’s Saddam Hussein—deposed during the George W. Bush administration—were certainly bad actors, Paul wants to know: who takes their place?

Comment: This is a good attack line against Hillary, but Paul might not do as well if Biden or another non-Hillary gets the Democrat nomination.

Rand Paul keeps coming off as such a flaky clown of a guy.

He won’t ever be ready for prime time.

Maybe, it depends on what the meaning of ISIS... is...
(sigh, there’s a Clinton testimony joke in here fighting to get out!)

I am not a Rand Paul guy but I agree 100% with this particular quote “So I think Qaddafi and Saddam Hussein were both secular dictators who were awful, and did terrible things to their people, but at the same time were also enemies of the jihadists. Assad is the same way. “

Rand Paul is too kind in his assessment. I would have been more blunt about it:

"The biggest problem the Middle East faces right now is that Saddam Hussein and Muammar Gaddafi were far better at dealing with radical Islam than George W. Bush or Barack Hussein Obama."

I disagree. George Bush did a pretty good job of it. Obama let the Islamic radicals back in the game.

The modern world has too much visibility. Western society is too open. Communications technology has put everything in front of everyone all the time.

We won't make progress against this enemy until we start doing a lot of things in the dark.

Fact: Saddam kept Jihadists out of Iraq.
Fact: Mubarak kept Jihadists under control in Egypt.
Fact: Gadhaffi kept Jihadists under control in Libaya.

Next stupid foreign policy thrust:
Get rid of Assad in Syria.

Rand Paul is right on this. These bad dictators were/are bad people but did not send suicide bombers to United States.

Saddam was doing 100% better in keeping Jihadists under control than Bush’s foreign policy. We can’t keep 25,000+ troops permanently in Iraq. We can’t afford it. We are 17.6 Trillion dollars in debt. China owns us big time already. With chronic budget deficits, we can never pay back the principle back to China. Which means we will pay them interest for everrrrrrrrrr.

Rand Paul is an idiot that is building up a long list of things that he clearly doesn’t understand, and just creates nonsense on.

From Hillary to Reagan, to abortion and gay marriage, he just keeps blurting out things that are silly, or simply false, he seems to be floundering for some sort of identity, but the more he flounders, the more unhinged he appears.

He really is coming off as his dad, nutty.

You are correct on this.

Paul has been out in left field on so many things lately but he is correct on this one.

Also, Paul has lost me but one thing he is very good at is attacking his opponent. Most republicans want to be too nice and are afraid to attack Obama or Hillary. Rand does it with ease.

Do you disagree that Gaddafhi and Saddam were better at fighting Islamists than their replacements?

Rand Paul is simply weak and short sighted, this isn’t strategic thinking.

The man is simply being libertarian and liberal on national defense and foreign policy, he isn’t bringing any brilliance or insight to the table.

Toppling Saddam Hussein let the Islamists run wild. Saddam was a bastard - who kept the Islamists under his foot, with great cruelty.

George Bush’s invading Iraq was like taking a baseball bat to a hornet’s nest.
