Twice in the past 30 minutes, when executing a link to one of the FreeRepublic posts, Firefox sent me a warning page that the "site" I was going to was a malware threat.
In more detail, the notice explained that it gets that threat info from Google, and that FreeRepublic had been identified as a "malware" threat.
Who knows if some troll got p-o'd or if WH trolls are involved in having set up the threat notice at Google.
I don't know what the mods can do.
Very weird. What OS and browser do you use?
7 and splodin 11.0.11
maybe those pop-up programs don’t work as well in Linux or something
so am clear, cause do not want to mislead, the pop-up is not taking place every time am visiting youtube. Is a recent new type of pop-up and believe these that are floating on youtube could be as you stated earlier (possible trojan). Question please ... earlier in this thread there was mention of a website giving something you were aware of possibly being a virus? or warning? at DuckDuckGo. Has that threat or warning disappeared from the mentioned location? Your classification at post #97 was warning but would like to know if after further analysis if warning was a threat.
I don’t know how those things know when to pop-up unless it is actually the browser that is infected or something
am suspicious it is an infection at google. On the add, last night, ‘x’ out and google (identifying markings google) dialog box pops up. Remember now that last night I chose ‘inappropriate’ because the other options (3 total, 2 remain after ‘inappropriate’ chosen), google marking on dialog box and google picked up (am supposing) when sent with OK click. Everything last night indicated it was a google problem (imho).
Geron, today ignored the box at youtube that was across video and after about 20 seconds the box disappeared.
Are you referring to the little box on the bottom of the video? I think those are how Youtube makes a profit. Those aren’t a separate window or anything.
The one encountered today appeared separate from video yet at bottom of video above progress of video line.
strange if part of youtube’s profit plan where am being asked to scan my computer because it has been determined, per add, my drivers on computer need checking.
That is definitely not from them, that sounds like a hack
hack ... my end, youtube’s end or google’s end
Earlier today I was reading an article on Free Republic and got one of those warning from my Norton which said there was a Malware threat on the page. I got off....then went back later, and it was fine.
At first I thought FR was hacked, but no mention when I got back on.....I was suspicious of Google or NSA/government interference. So don’t know what happened, but I can verify that Warning was happening earlier today, at least to me.
I got the warning from my Norton program on the page, and I think it was about the Marine in Mexico.
good question
if you had a Linux livedisc you could visit while running that and see if the same thing happens
Maybe next ‘puter. Am definitely going to be looking next time for improved ... I promise to stay careful. Don’t think is my end and instead google’s end but as usual ... I do not know.
Not me, direct quote from MrShoop.
Did you misspell, misspelled on purpose?
Nope usually run Firefox, no problems that I am aware of. That doesn't mean I am not infected or hacked buy the mobsters/governments of the world, just that I don't know about it.
Of course. That was one of the subtle digs I was putting in with the “mac” sneer. :)
The ‘Reply’ function DOES come with an auto-spellchecker, after all. *grin*
