Hi! My mom had surgery this morning to release the pressure on her brain from bleeding, probably caused by the fall she took last June-it's kind of like a stroke, but she can recover.I left the hospital about 4 hours ago and she was waking up-she's still very confused, she has no short term memory. They don't know if her memory will improve or not. She was very sad and emotional but that could be from the anesthesia. The estimate she'll be in the ICU for 2 weeks, they have to keep her as long as the drain is in her brain..right now the biggest worry is she'll pull that out but they'll also start physical therapy. After the hospital she may have to do inpatient rehab. It's all still unknown. I'll keep you posted. I know how worried you are. You can post this on FR, that always makes mom happy.. Her vitals all looked great, and she's gained a lot of weight so those are positive!

I just thought I’d share, since she’s been in the ICU they’ve given her a mental test every hour,and she’s asked several questions, and one is always, “do you know the name of the current president” her reply is always, “Yes, but I refuse to say his name” So far the nurses have laughed and said, “You pass!” but it is Austin, so you know she’ll make somebody cranky eventually lol!
