The first public hearing in the Benghazi select committee investigation will be held a week from today on September 17. More from Fox News producer Chad Pergrum:

According to the Committee website, Assistant Secretary for Diplomatic Security Greg Starr, Independent Panel on Best Practices Chairman Mark J. Sullivan and former Assistant Secretary for Infrastructure Protection for the Department of Homeland Security Todd Keil will be the witnesses.

The select committee was formed back in May of this year and is made up of seven Republicans and five Democrats. The Committee is chaired by Republican South Carolina Congressman and former prosecutor Trey Gowdy.

Don’t get too excited. My understand is that this hearing is simply to publicly air recommendations on making our embassies safer and things like that. It has nothing to do with getting to the bottom of the Administration’s misdeeds in the whole affair.
