The NFL, already swamped with negative news in what has been a horrible week for the league, now has to deal with Adrian Peterson, one of its biggest stars, being indicted for injuring a child.

Multiple reports, including TMZ, Fox Sports and the Fox affiliate in Houston, said Peterson was indicted on Thursday in Montgomery County for reckless or negligent injury to a child. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport said the indictment stems from Peterson disciplining his son with a switch, which is a flexible rod.

Could be...

http://houston.cbslocal.com/2014/09/12/exclusive-details-on-adrian-peterson-indictment-charges/

After the child returned home to Minnesota in late May, the mother took the son to his previously scheduled doctor appointment and the doctor that examined the child said the injuries were consistent with child abuse and that it appeared the child had injuries from one incident involving a “switch” and another incident possibly involving a cord.

Authorities in Minnesota referred the case to the Houston Police Department to investigate [IS THIS CORRECT?]. During the investigation, authorities determined that the incident did not take place on Woodway Drive in Houston, as originally believed, but instead in Spring, Texas, which is in the Montgomery County jurisdiction.

According to a law-enforcement source, Peterson was indicted Friday in Montgomery County, Texas, but has not yet been arrested.
The NFL recently unveiled a domestic-violence policy, which stipulates a six-game suspension for a first offense but allows for steeper penalties if children are involved.

I first though, good grief! they are prosecuting discipline to guarantee their future careers!

BUT - I read the article and looked at the pictures. It seems excessive - but I never read what instigated the whipping. Did the kid rape a little girl? - then it wasn’t nearly enough. Did he not change his underwear, then WAAAAAAAY too much.

The libs mouths are watering because they got the NFL in a vice grip now. The libs are after them. They see the revenues the league is getting and they want their piece of it through the concussion lawsuits and the eventual bureaucratic control of the sport. Next they will be scrutinizing the league’s tv and merchandising contracts. Why do you think ESPN and those networks that televise NFL games have been quick to condemn Rice as fast as they can? Oh man, the NFL execs have no clue what troubles they unleashed on themselves. They left a crack in their windows and the lib snakes are just slithering in. Professional football in America is about to change for the worst and it has nothing to do with what’s happening on the field of play.

That sounds vaguely like my grandmother. You didn’t WANT *her* picking the switch so you did a fairly decent job of that yourself.

‘Did the kid rape a little girl? - then it wasn’t nearly enough.’

So your approach to this crime is a “whooping”, as opposed to calling the police?

” How many different women has he had children with? “

http://nypost.com/2013/10/17/adrian-peterson-could-have-7-kids-ex/

The Minnesota Vikings running back had at least five children out of wedlock and could have had as many as seven, according to one of his ex-girlfriends.

(snip)

But another woman has come forward to say she is the mother of another Peterson child — a 4-year-old boy — and that the running back has fathered enough children to run offense on seven-on-seven drills.

“To my knowledge he takes care of them all,” Erica Syion, a former gentlemen’s-club dancer from Dallas, told TMZ, “but I only found out about the other two this week.”

I read one of the Robinson (DD) books, and they mention how Phil would have a set punishment for all the boys, when they did something wrong, 3 licks.

After one incident, Phil told the boys and a couple of other kids who were involved in the incident that they all were getting 3 licks, told the neighborhood kids if they didn't take the licks they could never come back to their house again. They took the licks.

Wow. He better hope he stays healthy till they all turn 18, if they live that long. I can’t imagine how much he shells out in child support.

I’m 61 now and never been in trouble with the law . . . I suspect it is because my dad whipped me and my mom disciplined me with whatever was in reach. I believe that there is a reason that we have punks running the streets - they never knew the love of a parent that refused to spoil the child in preference to sparing the rod.

If this is anything close to what happened, then Adrian Peterson will no longer be carrying the ball for the Vikings this season, or any other.

The scrotum?

“So parents can’t use corporal punishment any more on their kids?”

How do you know it was his kid?

And open wounds goes ‘a little bit’ over the top, what do you think?

Just read the article. He did what someone should never do. He hit the child while he was angry. Even admitted he went overboard with one of the licks.

We used to get “the paddle” at school. They drilled holes in it so you wouldn’t get that air cushion effect. Sure it hurt, but mostly it was humiliating. I still want to stomp that teacher forty five years later.

This man is a professional athlete:

Adrian Peterson

Height: 6-1 Weight: 217 Age: 29

Why did he need a weapon to discipline his four year old child?
