Odile will unload tremendous rainfall over a large part of the Southwest United States that will run off the mountains and into the desert valleys and plains through the end of the week.

While the rain will continue to ease the long-term drought in the region, too much rain will fall too quickly for the landscape to absorb.

So will the Border Patrol be required to put up warning signs for the illegals?

According to the forecast, you’ll be getting a visit from the effects of glow-bull discombobulation later in the week. Put out your rain barrels.

Looks like West Texas and the Panhandle will get good rain.

I’m going to get pounded (Ruidoso, NM). They think even snow/ice.

I am supposed to drive to Sante Fe Saturday; not sure I will.

Back when I was a youth, I visited a friend who was stationed at White Sands in NM. As I was driving down there through the desert, I had noticed white sticks with numbers, usually1-5, posted along the roads. I asked him about that, and he told me that’s so drivers know how deep the water is across the roads. He then showed me a couple of dams out in the middle of the desert and a topographic map of the area.

I got it.

We do, indeed! I like to watch Texans slide down the road.

Met my wife by having a WARN wench and spiked tires.

She’s Apache Mescalero and should have known better, but lost her instincts going to UT Galveston for med school.

In seriousness, a good base layer of ice on the mountain is not a bad thing, even this early. Makes the later stuff stick better.
