Rove: GOP Establishment Can’t Win Senate Alone (ya think??)

GOP strategist Karl Rove says the GOP could lose the Senate majority unless the party’s base of supporters volunteer more time and cash to the establishment’s preferred candidates.

The GOP will win a Senate majority “only… if Republicans open their wallets to candidates whom they may have never met, and… clear their calendars to volunteer to identify and get out the vote,” Rove wrote in Wall Street Journal op-ed.

The GOP needs the base’s support even though the public is rejecting Democratic politicians, said Rove, who was nicknamed “the architect” when he helped President George W. Bush win the 2000 and 2004 presidential elections.

“The president’s job approval numbers are lousy, no Democrat in a competitive Senate race polls regularly above 50%… independents are trending Republican [and] the midterm environment is terrible for Democrats,” he wrote. ”Yet each passing day provides evidence [that] a GOP Senate majority is still in doubt,” because Democrats have more cash than Republicans.

“It is unfortunate that the ‘architect’ fails to see that the thing holding back the GOP is not money, but its failure to connect with the working class even as the Democrats destroy it” with poverty-boosting policies, responded one caustic Hill aide.

Should have thought about that before Mississippi.

It's brain dead to not to vote for Roberts based on what happened in Mississippi.

Expelling the Democrats from the Senate majority is about preservation of the nation even if it means voting for some Republican establishment types.

Every single Republican in the Senate, including Roberts and Cochran voted against Obamacare. with just one more establishment type, Obamacare wouldn't have passed. Even establishment types oppose Democratic party power grabs like Obamacare.

It's beyond stupid to say it doesn't matter if a Republican or Democrat hold s Senate.

“Rove: GOP Establishment Can’t Win Senate Alone”

No, but you PROVED you can LOSE THE SENATE, alone.

You proved that in 2006 after pushing AMNESTY non-stop - no one came out and Pelosi/Reid had a FREE RUN and took over Congress. You nearly repeated that DISASTER again this year, but thankfully a small group of people in Virginia stepped-up and put a stop to your SUICIDE RUN.

In fact, I would say most active Republicans understand that the party would do better WITHOUT your ‘help’, but you collect the money, and, unfortunately, that does talk.

What difference has the Republican House made since 2010? A Republican Senate will make the same difference.

Yeah, but that have that magic "R" after their name! It covers a multitude of sins, don-cha-know.

The GOPe had all three branches from 2000-2006. What difference did it make?

The Oregon candidate cut her own throat by celebrating sin.

And Pat Roberts, in Kansas, had better start appealing to the Republicans back home.

What about Minnesota? Do we even have a candidate there?

Webby may not win in OR but she may help by draining some funds there. Mike McFadden is the candidate in MN. He’s another Dillard (aren’t they all?) but he could pull it off. MN is very flighty.

I may go and turn in an empty ballot. Give me someone to vote FOR and maybe I will.

Dear Karl, Take all your Establishment Preferred Candidates and go home. The GOP-E year after year election after election screws over Conservatives, screws over the nation, and enables the Democratic Party. YOU are part of the reason we are in this mess with the GOP Leadership sitting on their thumbs and rotating rather than leading. Get Lost Rove.

Mr Rove:
Search your memory bank to see if you can recall what former V.P. Cheney once suggested Senator Leahy try to accomplish for self satisfaction. Now go try it yourself.

Warmest regards

We do, but the Minneapolis paper is trying to bury him with their "Minnesota Poll" which always oversamples Democrats. Mike McFadden has some work to do and he needs to tie Franken to Barack's whipping post.

I wonder how it is a man can expect support from those he has demonized and attacked.

You clearly had more than enough support from democrats to win the primary why don’t you go to them for money and volunteer hours like you did before?

I’m sorry I’m just not that interested in a RINO who is really very little different than the democrat he is supposedly running against.
