I’m with him in spirit - Regarding my own home country, the US.

A political casualty of the referendum.

But the bigger message is devolution is no longer something reserved only for the Scots.

England will have to get an elected government and Parliament.

Its the only national region with no real say over its own afairs.

Something has got to give.

It would more dramatic to step down immediately than wait for November

Just like Reince Priebus should have resigned after Obama got reelected.

There is no honor in DC

I’m not sure if this even affects the USA but the vote wasn’t that close.

So, the people of Scotland would much rather be surfs
and subjects instead of sovereign individual citizens?

Figures, the natural yearning for freedom and independence
along with rugged individualism was bread of of Europeans
years ago. Now they are just weak and unridable little
toadies. What a waste.

Today, ‘Falling on One’s Sword’ has a completely different meaning.

Used to be Falling on One’s Sword meant that you had shamed many people - including yourself, made a mess of things or even got caught with your hand in the cookie jar.
SO. you place your sword in front of you and fall. FINIS.

Today some clown like the fools we have (supposedly) representing us, admit to any of the above and say “I take responsibility” and go back to the same job....Wrong Answer.

A defeated Japanese General didn’t worry about Courts Martial or getting ‘fired’, he just pulled out the old trusty wakasashi and ‘hari carried’ his way out of his problems.

Even today some of the Chinese do that (well it is reported they commit suicide when it is found they were mixing anti freeze in the food)...

Well, Salmond shows he has some personal honor. God bless him in his retirement, though we are political opposites.

Reckless populist.

Offered very little in the way of articulating what the Scottish independence movement was about aside from appearing in selfies with 'Yes' supporters with his tongue sticking out.

He was no John Adams, that's for sure.

This guy was lying thru his piehole in his efforts to promote secession. He was promising everyone no hurt whatsoever as a result. He shouldn’t be allowed to simply quit. While the Scots probably deserve a better deal from the Empire at some point they have to get off their socialist buttz and put a list together. They represent only i/10th of the Brit population and, as with the Irish, would probably be eating bad spuds if they try to make it outside the Commonwealth.

I don’t know much about him, but this seems to show some integrity. Maybe he’ll retire to work out some of the things the separation camp forgot, like squarely answering economic questions, planning on perhaps being forced to travel Iceland’s path outside the EU, making sure the Shetlands stay in Scotland, and what currency to use.

Demonstrations, fire, and violence in Glasgow tonight.

At least 1 “Yes” voter was stabbed, and a fire was started near the newspaper offices.
