Sen. Mary Landrieu (D., La.), an ObamaCare voter running for re-election in a conservative state, has to this point shown remarkable political resilience. But a new Fox News poll suggests that her days in the Senate may be drawing to a close. The survey of 617 likely voters in Louisiana shows Rep. Bill Cassidy (R., La.) leading Ms. Landrieu by 13 percentage points.

The telephone poll, conducted Sept. 14-16, finds that 51% of Louisiana voters prefer Mr. Cassidy as their next senator, versus 38% who favor the incumbent.

This may be the result of blistering recent television ads showing the deep roots Ms. Landrieu has planted as a longtime

“Well, its all over for Mary Landfill”

Assume nothing. That race will likely have a runoff, since Maness won’t pull out of the open primary. The runoff in December is the key for Landrieu.

OK, numerous ones of you are saying that. What am I missing? I understood the title just fine. I’ve seen some that were terribly worded and misleading, but, I guess I’m missing something on this one.

If these numbers are correct, there will be NO RUN-OFF. If any candidate gets over 50% (even by one vote) there is no run-off. So, let Maness and all the others stay in. The more there are, yes, it increases the chance of a run-off, but it also DECREASES the chances that Senator Thunder Thighs will get 50%. It’s all good, Scott; chill bro.

Very small poll sample.
After the runoff, everything will change. I wouldn't count her out yet . SIGH.

The actual numbers of this FoxNews poll in the open primary are: Cassidy — 35, Landrieu - 31, and Maness - 7.

The 51-38 number you see in this poll is based on a hypothetical one-on-one matchup between Cassidy and Landrieu. If Cassidy fails to reach 50% on election night in November, the top two will meet in a runoff in December.

The article didn’t say that. This is what I read in the article:

“The telephone poll, conducted Sept. 14-16, finds that 51% of Louisiana voters prefer Mr. Cassidy as their next senator, versus 38% who favor the incumbent.”

This is a FoxNews poll that shows two scenarios: one head-to -head and the other with Maness in the mix. Look at Realclearpolitics.com’s breakdown of the race.

OK, I understand what you’re saying. I usually do check the polling on RCP; just haven’t done so today. The article is still misleading. Thanks.

a mod thankfully injected the word “over”...previously it read as though Landrieu was winning...
