gee impose the surcharge on everyone who buys a bike at the point of sale.
makes more sense than letting car drivers pay for bike lanes.
And how much will the bicyclist contributing? A surcharge on purchase price? Annual bicycle licensing?
The cyclists hog our winding roads in Georgia. They don’t patronize local businesses in the area, don’t buy gas and they ride 2 bikes wide, side by side, making it near impossible to pass them on the curvy roads.
I hope their stupid, tight bike shorts make it impossible for them to breed more bicyclists.
You aren’t willing to pay $5 a year keep bikes from blocking city streets. (Of course, we both know that the worst offenders will stick to the streets instead of the separate bikeways).
Another environmentalist whacko blow to the pocket book of that “pollutist” (Yeah I know, now such word, coined it myself) behind the wheel of that nasty old internal combustion driving machine the Lefties hate so much (unless it’s a limo you, and I pay for.)
Given’s Brown’s history, I don’t understand how he got to be governor...again. But then, I never thought people were dumb enough to vote Obozo in for a second term, either.
Well, we have a $5 surcharge for bus transportation in the city plus a general $5 surcharge from the county - on top of the taxes both charge.
Plus they must think my Ford Focus had Gold Rims.
I’m so glad that I don’t live in California. In my town, practically every street has a bike lane. From the big, multi-lane thoroughfares to the small residential streets. And they don’t cost us any more than the regular property taxes that we pay for necessary infrastructure. Ironically, few people use the bike lanes here if they don’t have to. We ride on the sidewalks if we can, because we are afraid of old people in big cars who can’t see very well. And in this town there are lots of them. Even in the daytime. And riding a bike at night is an adventure, even when you have bike lights.
.
I think they should be taxed for the air they breath so those of us who walk will have cleaner air!/s
When are the damned cyclists going to be made to pay annual licensing fees and to take road tests (too many don’t understand or obey traffic lights, turn only lane signage, or stop signs, let alone “drinking and driving” on pub crawls and “critical mass” moonlight rides)?
Socialist crap. Make everyone with a vehicle pay for someone else’s use
Dumb bastards, just sell a annual sticker to cyclists. If they don’t have one, ticket them.
People don't understand horses, as evidenced by recent legislation concerning slaughter and the efforts to remove them from New York City. And there is certainly a prejudice against riders as a class, especially Fox hunters ("the unspeakable pursuing the inevitable") which is entirely misplaced.
Bicyclists on trails do not relieve car drivers on streets of competition with bicyclists engage in commerce, only from those bicyclists pursuing recreation off-road. The same can be said for equestrians. Why do horse enthusiasts not have an equal claim? One can extend the argument to include all matter of off-road vehicles used for recreation and these recreationists certainly would be met with uncharted hostility in Sacramento.
First you win the culture war, then you win the political war.
The democrats new non tax, the surcharge. This let’s moonbeam and his idiot brethren claim they don’t raise taxes. When I was in high school in the golden state I had a car that was twelve years old and paid $14 annual registration. I have the same year and model now, only it’s fifty one years old but now the registration is $94. They surcharge the carp out of you in this state!
Had ENOUGH Yet ?
Side street in nyc, single lane residential street for cars now divided to make room for bicycle lane, these idiots are insane. Now drivers have to pay for it also. Looking for liberal progressive marxist insanity look no further than the cesspool cities they control
Why are people who ride bikes treated like gods? People who own cars pay for the upkeep and freeloaders gets all the benefits.
And your taxes buy the bike lane or roadside bike trails and the damned bikers ride in the streets with a bike trail brand new, smooth and flat 20 feet to their right. A law to ticket them should be cowritten with the law that funds the bike lanes.
