A real-life horror story is playing out in Africa as Ebola spreads, and President Obama’s decision to send 3,000 troops to Liberia to combat the virus could very well put Americans at risk of contracting the deadly illness at home, some health experts say.
According to the World Health Organization, at least 4,985 people have contracted Ebola and at least 2,461 have died. Several doctors have fallen ill with Ebola, and two of them have died. New reports indicate a Doctors Without Borders staff member has contracted the virus in Liberia and will be evacuated to France for treatment.
“You can see that these doctors, who are highly trained people, got themselves infected,” said Dr. Lee Hieb, former president of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons. “So sending troops into an area, if they’re dealing one-on-one with a patient, they’re not going to be able to protect themselves very well. It’s not easy to [prevent transmission], because you get tired and you get careless and you make some simple mistakes. All it takes is one virus particle.”
Dr. Hieb said quarantine measures should be taken to control the outbreak and prevent Ebola from coming to America.
“You don’t get Ebola from Europe,” she told WND. “You get Ebola from Africa. And it’s a really simple formula: Don’t let people fly to America if they’ve been to areas where there’s an outbreak. When there’s an outbreak, stop air [traffic] flow.”
Hieb added, “If they’re going to use the troops to do population control, which is one of the ways you contain it, basically you just don’t let anybody out. You’d make a ring around where it is, and you’d quarantine the area.”

Your scenario sounds spot-on.
And reading your words made me see an additional consequence. After these troops return home, even those who are not infected will be feared by civilians and effectively shunned. Then, anyone in a military uniform will be treated the same way. Another goal of the progressives achieved.

Military are designed for one thing only - kill the enemy. They can be very effective at that, or cordoning areas off if you watch the movies, but they are not trained for this type work. Obozo hates the military. My AF retirement was signed by Clinton and will never grace my wall. My upcoming DOD civilian retirement gave me a choice of any living president so I requested Bush sign it. Too bad the Gipper ain’t around...Hell, I’d even go for Ollie North.

I don’t even play a doctor on TV and I can figure out that sending combat troops to fight Ebola is insane. Its surreal. The Pentagon needs to put a stop to it. They will all just catch Ebola. That’s horrible enough and then they will bring it back here. If I was a parent of child in the military I would be sceaming.

Didn’t check to see if anyone posted this yet (I was just looking for pictures to see if she was not guilty), found out she’s the Libertarian Party candidate for governor in Iowa.
These 3,000 are combat troops?
Then how do you explain that the Army is also expert in disease research, cures, and helping in disease and emergencies, and maintains a strong international presence in WHO operations and medical research, and receives much assistance from the Navy in it's global medical operations in infectious diseases?
Are you assuming these are the folks being sent vs. "other" troops, or have you seen it mentioned? I haven't seen any indication that we are sending experts in medicine/disease (could have missed it), and most of the stories surrounding it do not seem to think this is the case or they would not be so outspoken against it.
Will grant that not all troops are combat troops, but the sense I have been getting is that many of those who will be sent are not "designed by training" for the role they will be filling.
We don't need millions of Americans to die of Ebola before figuring out that the above comment is correct.

Africa has plenty of 'boots' of their own - on the ground and living there - to fight Ebola.
Is Obama saying black Africans aren't smart enough to fight ebola if we give them supplies and cash to pay the wages of workers? Is that why he wants to send white soldiers? Really, is Obama saying Africans are too stupid to handle this?

The Army is expert in Biosafety and Level 4, and spread it’s knowledge to other agencies, such as the CDC.

It is located on Fort Detrick, Maryland and is a subordinate lab of the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command (USAMRMC), headquartered on the same installation.
USAMRIID is the only U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) laboratory equipped to study highly hazardous viruses at Biosafety Level 4 within positive pressure personnel suits.
USAMRIID employs both military and civilian scientists as well as highly specialized support personnel, in all about 800 people. In the 1950s and ‘60s, USAMRIID and its predecessor unit pioneered unique, state-of-the-art biocontainment facilities which it continues to maintain and upgrade. Beginning in 1957, these conferences were planned to include non-classified sessions as well as classified sessions to enable broader sharing of biological safety information. It was not until 1964, however, that conferences were held in a government installation not associated with a biological warfare program.
Over the next ten years, the biological safety conferences grew to include representatives from all federal agencies that sponsored or conducted research with pathogenic microorganisms.”

The military will also build a training facility, which will rapidly teach infection control and self-protection procedures to hundreds of local and foreign health workers. The military hopes to process up to 500 health workers, both civilians and humanitarian responders, in a week.”
