HOUSTON - Two people were killed early Saturday morning after deputies say four men tried to rob a bar in northwest Harris County.
Four men with guns went into EJ's Place on Kuykendahl and Colwell roads around 2:30 a.m. Saturday, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies said when they tried to rob the bar, one of the customers pulled out a gun and opened fire, killing two of the suspects. The other two alleged robbers left the scene.
The customer who pulled the trigger also left before law enforcement arrived. Deputies are now trying to locate him.

Doesn’t look like a bad area.
If they find the guy, which I doubt, I think it’ll be someone with military or law experience. It takes guts and the ability to handle a weapon to go against 4 armed guys.
Here is a link to a different article on the robbery.
It doesn’t say much new but it does convey more of a feel for why someone may have gone for his gun instead of just letting the robbery take place even at risk of prison himself.
Once when I was closing up a beer and wine restaurant in Houston in the 70s, two black guys came in and were acting very suspicious, so I walked past them and got my rifle (or shotgun) out of the car and brought it in, again walking right past them, the way they left only reinforced my suspicions.
At that restaurant when we had to make cash drops on busy nights, I would walk outside with my shotgun and face the restaurant to cover the corners of the building, while the guy with the cash and his pistol in hand, walked to his car.
Back then there was no self consciousness about the customers or passing cops witnessing the procedure and the guns.
I was there and shooting pool officer........I didn't see a damn thing.
Good for him. I hope noone gave the police a decent description. He’s done his good deed. No reason for the state to persecute him.
4 people reportedly try to rob bar. A customer kills 2 of them. How many robbers are left?
“I saw the whole thing, officer. He was a tall guy, kinda short. Balding with long blond hair worn in a crew cut. He was wearing glasses, or was carrying a glass, not sure. I’d recognize him anywhere, I only saw him from the back”

I was there too. The guy was 7 1/2 feet tall, blond with a black beard and mustach wearing a ring on each finger and speaking arabic. He ran from the bar and got into a rolls royce with a gorilla driver.
“Perhaps hes waiting for the booze to get out of his bloodstream.”
But the alcohol sounds like it might have helped his aim! ;)
“The police are mainly concerned with their own power and citizen dependence on them for protection. A level of crime is needed to keep them in power.”
The cops are there to protect the thugs from the law-abiding because if the law-abiding had their way...
I think he did good. Two shot, two dead. Not bad when on average only about 15 percent of handgun shooting are fatal.
“But only because they did have a No Guns sign in their front window.”
And the criminals love those gun-free zones! At least those four did until...
Yes, I understand TX has a zero tolerance policy regarding guns & alcohol. I don’t know if that bar was a 51% establishment or not.
Yes, he’s “facing charges”. However, this is Texas (and Houston and NOT Austin) so if the DA is stupid enough to actually press charges, the defensive shooter will be found innocent by jury nullification.

I would certainly be in a jury nullification mood if I were on the jury. Also, I suspect the shooter will have free drinks for some time.
depends on the state. you can carry in a bar in commierado but, as was pointed out, DON’T DRINK. if i am going to dinner in the neighborhood and know i am going to have wine, i leave my weapon home. most of the time i just decide not to drink and do carry.
And I bet the cops are more intent on catching this good Samaritan than on catching the two perps he missed.
Who shot first, I wonder? If any of the robbers just threatened to shoot someone, it was justified.
Unfortunately the bar has video cameras.
Is this a neighborhood tavern where a copper might stop off duty?
The downside of concealed carry is having to use it.
