Momentum: New Wave of Polling Spells Big Trouble for Democrats

Let's start with the national picture, then move to key Senate races. In a fresh CBS News poll, Republicans hold a six point lead on the generic Congressional ballot -- matching their final 2010 margin in this series:

As a point of comparison, Fox's national survey released last week had the GOP ahead by a similar margin, 47-40.  It's historically rare for Republicans to have any advantage on this indicator, so what explains their substantial edge here? How about a 30 point lead among independents, and an eight-point enthusiasm gap. And then there's this…

The only poll that counts, takes place on November 4th.  Stand up and be counted folks.

This is the only poll they can't keep you out of.  Let the nation hear you.

Big trouble for everyone ELSE, too, if the GOP wins and then continues its ‘business as usual’ of making deals with corrupt and treasonous Liberals!

We need a house cleaning top to bottom!

Obama really is underwater.

The Senate races are breaking GOP. Like the old saying has it, the trend is your friend.

Its going to be hard for endangered Democrats to move the needle.

I won’t believe it until I start to see the votes counted. Still, it would be very hard to see Kentucky (McConnell) and Kansas (Roberts) voting for a democrat/liberal in hiding. The Alaska poll is encouraging since there is not much polling that goes on in that state simply because of the dynamics of the state.

Still, all these people better be up by +2 on election day. That way ACORN can’t steal an election.

This isn’t surprising considering none of the endangered Dems can poll close to 50%. In a change election the undecideds break for the challenger.

Back in 2006 at this point in time, it was clear the Democrats would take over Congress.

Bush was so widely detested that nothing helped and late missteps by GOP candidates only gave the impression their party was on electoral quicksand.

There’s a strong anti-Democratic and anti-incumbent mood in the country and in a second mid term, the party in the White House is usually on the receiving end of a backlash. Now that’s the Democrats’ turn.

Its no longer a question of whether Democrats can keep the Senate but whether they can minimize their losses.

Maybe we will finally have some of that “hope and change” everybody was yapping about six years ago.

Perhaps the “American people” are waking up to the mess that’s being made of their country. Sure hope so.

Foolish to expect quick changes though. IF the mess is cleanable, it will take years. If the mess is not cleanable... well, I guess that’s what revolutions are for.

That takes time. Let’s be realistic. The GOP, even the GOPe, is way better than the Dems, warts and all.

What makes you think that anything else would happen?
Have the Republicans done any vigorous fighting against the IRS's targeting, the NSA's espionage, the national debt, ObamaCare?

votes counted

The second Presidential election after I was born was Kennedy - Nixon. The term, "votes counted", has never had any literal meaning to me.

The “business as usual” attitude by the GOP is very much a possibility with this crowd.

I shall hold my nose, vote GOP and pray like hell that some of the Pubbies develop a sense of responsibility for the fate of this poor country.

Something must be done about Islam.

Our society and Muslim mindset are NOT compatible and one will NOT survive, just like Christianity, after 2000 years in the ME, did not survive.

OK GOP, get your head out of your a$$.

Establishment Republicans have BECOME the DNC... outwardly and inwardly-they are indistinguishable.

They rolled over and played dead. I have no confidence in them and I do not trust them at all.

They have consistently betrayed, cheated, exploited and insulted the base and have no right to expect loyalty much lest support... (meaning, $$$)!
