'Close to Home': Neighbors of Dallas Ebola Patient Concerned

Many residents of a Dallas neighborhood were woken early Sunday morning by a knock on their doors from city officials handing out Ebola information pamphlets and informing them that someone who lives nearby had tested positive for Ebola.

"It's one thing to be in Dallas but for it to be next door, it’s like really close to home," the unidentified patient's next door neighbor, Chelsea Esposito, told NBC Dallas-Fort Worth. Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital announced Sunday that a health care workers who treated Ebola victim Thomas Eric Duncan had tested positive for the disease. The Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta is working to confirm the test, which, if positive, would be the first known case of Ebola being transmitted in the U.S. Duncan died Wednesday.

Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings said at a news conference early Sunday that a Dallas Fire and Rescue Hazmat Team decontaminated any open areas of the apartment complex where the patient lived on the 3700 block of Marquita Avenue in Dallas and the patient's car. Rawlings said police were stationed nearby to make sure no one enters the complex.

The health care worker was in close contact with only one person while she was symptomatic, and that person has been placed in isolation, said Dr. Daniel Varga of Texas Health Resources.

Wash all fruits and veggies from the grocery with soap.

Better still, soak them 15 minutes in a 1:100 solution of household bleach then rinse well.

And while you are at it soak your hands at the same time. You've already touched the vegetables at least twice.

Then go disinfect the steering wheel of you car you drove home from the grocery store, and soak your car and door keys as well. Make sure you don't forget the car and house door handles...

“Ping... A link to this thread has been posted on the Ebola Surveillance Thread”

Joe, during the White House fence jumping investigation I saw mention of another SS security lapse after that where on Sept. 16 the _resident was inside an elevator with an uncleared and still armed security guard. Never heard any more mention of it, but do remember the place in which it happened. It was when the _resident made a personal visit to the CDC concerning the Ebola outbreak.

Nine days later we get our first imported case.

“Duncan began feeling ill shortly after his arrival in Texas. He went to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas on Sept 25, but was initially sent home with antibiotics. His condition worsened, he returned Sept 28 by ambulance and was diagnosed with the disease.

Have you or anyone else here heard the reason he went there and what the meetings were about?

I thought it was odd at the time and remember it because there was no mention of it in the press as far as I know. Just the one blurb about the incident and the guard with a sidearm in the elevator during his visit there.

Strange that he would feel the need to give up golfing and go to the Atlanta CDC H.Q. at that particular time with no publicity, don’t you think?

Mentioned here...

I sure would like to know what was said at this meeting, anyone know? I suspect he told them he was going to do nothing to stop it reaching here and for them to get ready to lie to the public about it “to prevent a panic”?

Because nine days later it showed up and the lies started.

Best regards,
SS1
