Yes, and they told us AIDS was not a gay disease, too.

My new motto: Don’t believe anything until it’s been officially denied.

They’re admitting you can catch it from contaminated animal meat. How does the animal catch it?

Back to my scenario. A worker in a processing plant comes down with ebola. Of course he’s handling meat for a while before he’s diagnosed. Too late to prevent all the meat he has touched from being distributed.

Of course it isn’t. That’s why you need to wear a spacesuit and remove it perfectly... and be isolated and be quarantined/

Hope those aren’t contaminated gloves laying out there.

Obama says you can’t get it riding an African bus. Guess it’s safe then.

If you catch it, you weren’t following our lever 2 protocals for this level 4 pathogen!

I just watched Dr. Tom Frieden on the news. He does not have the demeanor of a medical doctor, no leadership skills to instill confidence in what he says; he is a political hack and his days at his job are numbered.

Apparently the virus will be inactivated by boiling for 5 minutes or cooking at 140 degrees for 30 to 60 minutes. Apparently the UK has a problem with people smuggling in bush meat...

After all the lies that Obama and this administration have told how can we believe anything they say about Ebola, ISIS, “climate change”, or immigration. No credibility is just that... No credibility. If Susan Rice told me the sun was going to rise in the east I would have trouble believing her.

You know what? A virus that takes 5 minutes at 212 degrees or 30-60 minutes at 140 degrees? That’s NOT an easily killed virus that we don’t need to worry about. I kinda wonder if the CDC is staffed with people who think we won’t get this because we’re just so darned special (and that’s GOOD scenario, which begs the question, what are they thinking?!).

Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

A doctor friend of mine told me yesterday that she attended a continuing education conference at Georgetown Medical School less than one week ago. She is kind of a crunchy granola type and usually sympathetic to the social services etc... Her patients are the uninsured in the DC area. She said the seminar talked about how in the early stages it seems you can only contract through body fluids but the last days, it can be transmitted through the skin. She said they are downplaying the threat. Again, she is kind of a lib and we usually have a good time sparring about this stuff and she tells me my fears are unfounded. Yesterday, she couldn’t tell me that.

On the way soon. Hysterical slaughter of all pets. They could be vectors for ebola.

“Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings said hazmat teams, working overnight, had decontaminated common areas in the apartment complex where the healthcare worker lived, as well as the patient’s car, handrails, and the parking lot at Texas Health Presbyterian.

Handrails? I assume elevator buttons in tall buildings... maybe door handles... and ATM machines.
