Here Are The Countries Where Ebola Is Most Likely To Show Up Next
Business Insider ^ | 10/13/14 | Pamela Engel

Panic over the spread of Ebola has been growing in Europe, North America, and Asia after the world saw the first three patients diagnosed with the disease outside of West Africa: two in Texas and one in Spain.

We're not likely to see an outbreak in the US, but now that the disease has been transmitted here, Americans are increasingly worried. Nina Pham, a 26-year-old nurse who cared for Ebola patient Thomas Eric Duncan in Dallas, was recently diagnosed with the disease. Duncan died in Dallas last week.

And although the threat of widespread transmission in the US is very low, air travel makes it very likely that Ebola cases could arrive here again and may start popping up in other countries.

"Germs have always traveled. The problem now is they can travel with the speed of a jet plane," Howard Markel, a professor of the history of medicine at the University of Michigan, told The New York Times.

Isn’t that great?

The developed countries are getting the virus early because...that’s where the treatment is and the jet planes go!

How wonderful.

That’s wishful thinking.

They’ve been able to do that for over half a century, when the DH Comet went into service. What’s really different “now”?

Ans: we’re in the second term of an enemy President. And ebola is hardly the only formerly isolated virus that’s “now” booking flights to the US.

Very interesting:

Based on the transportation numbers, proximity, and open borders, here are the most likely countries to IMPORT ebola (not most likely for an outbreak):

Ghana
UNITED STATES I(Thanks Obola!
France
Senegal
Ivory Coast
United Kingdom
Nigeria
Belgium
Gambia
Mali
Morrocco
South Africa
Lebanon
Kenya

Belgium should be closer to the top since so many West Africans have a layover there.

What I wonder is how did the patient 0 afford the $4000.00 flight from Liberia if he couldn't afford medical treatment there. I am suspecting that there is a Muslim connection.

I’ll bet a lot of people can scrounge up $4,000. But $500,000 [half million] will be considerable more difficult.

So tiresome reading this one-note drivel here.

Very surprised that no Central American countries made the list, particularly in light of General Kelly’s comments last week. He’s one of the few government officials willing to tell the truth in terms of what might come next....

Oh, really? There were some 70 people that treated Duncan, not to mention his family (gee, where ARE they, anyway?) and various visitors. PLUS the people they interacted with, like Pham's boyfriend (that may have literally been a killer BJ). Oh, and WE KEEP LETTING IN PEOPLE FROM INFECTED COUNTRIES! I'd say that the odds of an outbreak here are pretty damned high.

Moron!

Oddly - despite the large Chinese presence in West Africa and, despite the large Chinese on site medical effort to combat the disease - not one Chinese has gotten it, nor has it made its way to China proper ...

There’s also the strangely unrelated outbreak of Ebola in DR Congo, and nobody’s going to care about the distinction if they get out and mingle.
