National GOP (Top Strategist) Predicts Senate Victory

The top GOP strategist tasked with winning Senate control said unequivocally that his party will accomplish that goal next month.

"We are going to win the Senate. I feel very good about that," National Republican Senatorial Committee Executive Director Rob Collins told reporters in a Thursday meeting.

"These races have been tough, they've been a grind, but we're seeing movement in our right direction. I feel really good about where we are," Collins continued. "I think we're going to take the Senate. I think we're going to take it on election night."

Collins joked that if the GOP doesn't win, "I'll be in an unmarked grave in Kentucky," Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's (R-Kent.) home state.

Republicans need to pick up a net gain of six seats to win Senate control, and it appears increasingly likely that they'll be able to do so, though the Senate map is still volatile with fewer than three weeks until Election Day.

The GOP is expected to win open seats in Montana and West Virginia, and Collins said the battle between Sen. Mark Pryor (D-Ark.) and Rep. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) is "getting very close to being a decided affair in our view."

Collins ran through the races one by one, sounding the most bullish about Louisiana and Alaska and arguing the GOP has expanded the map to include a number of purple and blue states. Republicans are very competitive in Colorado and Iowa, both Democratic-held states where the party has held slight leads in public polling. Collins predicted it would win both.

He conceded not everything is moving in the right direction, however, admitting that Georgia has been problematic in recent weeks due to questions about businessman David Perdue's (R) outsourcing past.

Collins admitted the race has "tightened up" and said "Perdue needs to get through the current debate" about his career and turn the focus to former charity executive Michelle Nunn (D).

"Georgia is tight. That's why you saw us put $1.4 million in," he said. "We're going to have to articulate why Michelle Nunn is going to be a rubber stamp for Obama."

In two other red states, Collins argued the GOP would be fine.

He said that after a rough patch, Sen. Pat Roberts (R-Kan.) has bounced back by ripping independent businessman Greg Orman.

"We've set that up as a choice and that's going to work for us," he said of Roberts communicating with voters. "We had to have a very direct conversation and that's working."

He also admitted South Dakota was a "tight race."

"We put a million bucks in there just to make sure we're not going to have a problem," he said.

Seats in which the top GOP Senate Strategist is confident the GOP will win:
Montana, W.Virginia, Louisiana, Alaska, Colorado, Iowa and all seats where GOP incumbents are running.
He's very iffy about Georgia and South Dakota (which for months was thought to be a "given" for the GOP) and was non-committal on Arkansas and North Carolina.

In a sane and educated country it would go 100 R to 0 D. Unfortunately this is NOT a sane country or anything close to it.

GOP will not win the Senate and will lose House seats.

If we lose GA, we are in deep doo-doo. Then we can still afford to lose NC but we will have to win SD or Arkansas. And, I’m not ready to say that either of those are a “definite” right now.

I’d say thinking that this is going to be a “wave” election is out the window. I predict that we will win the Senate Majority, but it will be by a margin of 1 or 2 seats. And with GA and LA having Run-off Elections, I am not as certain as the GOP Strategist that it will be decided on Election Night.

In a sane and educated country, the Republican and Constitution parties would be fighting over how small the government should be, and the demonicrat party wouldn’t even exist.

Its the demographics, stupid.

If there is a last minute strong D+ turnout, the GOP could be shocked in November.

Don’t count your chickens until they hatch.

Unfortunately this is NOT a sane country or anything close to it.

And unfortunately we don't have a sane Republican Party worth voting for, or anything close to it.

What good news?

This clown is out there giddy over the prospect of controlling the money and committees and getting his cut than he is about stopping Obama's agenda.

There are no Republican candidates out there exhibiting conservative principles or talking about Obama's failed policies. All your seeing is this play it safe crap and agreeing with Democrats to pander to those precious independents and moderates who don't exist.

This strategist is nothing more than a beltway ruling class scumbag.

I’m sure those early voters are glad they didn’t wait until after the Ebola and enterovirus outbreaks. Now when people ask them why they voted for the party that killed millions of US citizens, they can claim ignorance.

How will things be different from today if the GOP does indeed take the Senate and retains the House?

Two years. The Republicans will be place holders while the Democrats serve their penance. In 2016 they will regain power and continue to push hard left.

The question should be not IF but HOW BIG.

Instead the reality is IF.

The GOP should be walking away with a midterm sweep. But they’ll lucky to win at all.

Why is that?

You’re exactly right. Plus, don’t discount the fact that many Conservatives are mad as hell and won’t be voting for the RINOs. I don’t think my two comments sounded like I’m over confident; I’m not. I put a couple of comments on FR just last night saying that there could be a couple of “shockers” on Election night. I think one of the posted comments was to you.

Because the GOP of 2014 has done what Ronald Reagan warned them not to do in 1984......They have abandoned the Conservative Message.
