Shocking Kansas GOP sweep shaping up for Sam Brownback, Pat Roberts
kansascity.com ^ | 10/17/14 | YAEL T. ABOUHALKAH

Just weeks ago, Democrats in Kansas were salivating over the possibility that Paul Davis would be the next governor in the state and independent Greg Orman would be a new U.S. senator.

Not any longer.

In fact, rather suddenly, Republicans are thinking they are going to have an enjoyable Nov. 4 night of watching election returns.

That’s because they now have growing reasons to think Gov. Sam Brownback is going to defeat Davis and win re-election. That would be unfortunate, given just how badly Brownback’s economic policies have hurt the state.

And they are giddy over the reversal in the Senate race, where incumbent Pat Roberts could slip by Orman. That, too, would be a near-disaster for Kansans, who would be plagued with the shrill, unproductive Roberts for six more years.

Why the big change?

▪ Polls explain much of the shift in optimism on behalf of Republican officials.

The most recent ones show both Brownback and Roberts gaining ground.

Looks like “Conservative Review” is a new blog. Nothing wrong with that. But until it establishes some credibility through longevity, I’ll pass on its scores. It doesn’t explain its 66% rating on Roberts.

The site only has 3 articles. That’s not enough to get a taste of where the site stands on issues and how it grades politicians.

Nice try, though.

I’ll trust the American Conservative Union over a 10¢ newbie blog.

I thought Yael was a girl's name

I can think of at least one female Yaelle who could thrash him on the page or in the street.

The Kansas City Star is a liberal rag. It used to be a pretty good paper (70’s) when KC was not EBT central.

THE RED STAR OR THE FALLING STAR is no longer a credible source of news.

Cotton you must be a paid shill of Soro’s. You live in Boston and make negative comments about Kansans and who they elect.

Brownback is my choice for Gov.
Roberts is going to win a new term

Kansas is a role model for the USA

AMEN. I happened to have seen Senator Roberts today in KC with Congressman Paul Ryan, and congressman Kevin Yoder.
Roberts is still on top of his game and deserves another term. Oraman stands for nothing but himself.

Paul Ryan would be great for 2016 or 2020. He represents the future of the GOP.

GraceG sure loves to constantly scream "RINO!!!!!!!!!!" at a solidly conservative incumbent and try to fool freepers into thinking he's liberal and "deserves to lose". Interesting that both the Democrat Party operatives and the anti-Roberts brigade on FR constantly repeat the talking point about he's a "shrill, unproductive career politician who lives in DC"

I smell Ozone.

Yes I live in MA. There are conservatives here you know. And I didn’t say anything negative about Roberts or Brownback in this thread. I posted it for the very opposite reason, because the media is depressed that Brownback especially is likely to be re-elected. The only negative thing I’ve ever said about Brownback is that he fell for the Catholic Amnesty crap (and I’m a Catholic). Roberts I’ve had far more negative things to say about, because he’s a long in the tooth political hack whose voting record is shaky. But he finally got his ads in gear, instead of just assuming he’d get re-elected.

Because it’s been revealed that Orman had a fundraiser hosted by the son of George Soros who is a low-life, scumbag, Socialist. Secondly, Orman is not just Pro-Choice, he has no problem with a woman having an abortion past 20 weeks. He can eff off.

It appears that God is intervening in this year’s mid-terms.

Let’s don’t blame everything on God my friend. The Bible says in James 1:17 that every GOOD and PERFECT gifts comes from the Father above. Ebola, AIDS, sickness, disease, etc. comes from the fact that, thanks to Adam and Eve, this world is under a curse. Stuff happens my brother.

I agree. He would make a great Vice President for President Ted Cruz.

I'm not happy about the Ebola epidemic by any stretch of the imagination. But, I will say that there is a good chance that Ebola will definitely cause there to be a "hold" put on Amnesty for quite awhile; fo sho!

I know. I feel the same way. I used that quote from ncfool to demonstrate that Ted Cruz is my choice for 2016.

I’m not a conspiracy guy, but people are rather easily manipulated to speak out against their own best interests, which for conservatives does not include elected any Democrats.

Just out of curiosity, what particular votes of Roberts do you object to?

Also, if the interests of the country are the same as the interests of Kansas, does it matter where he lives?

If the country as a whole is served better with a vote that may in fact not be in the BEST interests of Kansas, which would you support?

If you live in Kansas, who do you think would male a better senator to represent you from the list of candidates?

If you don't live in the state, who are the rank and file republicans, and shall we say, conservatives, supporting in their state?

Is it possible for a breathing individual to support his state when he physically does not have a postal box in that state?
