There’s a Kaci Lynne Hickox from Grapevine, Texas that has an RN issued in 2003, which is due to expire at the end of Jan, 2015. I will assume she is one and the same, because of the photo issued by UTA.

Perhaps a hand bell and a sign to wear around her neck...

UNCLEAN..... UNCLEAN.

How is this enforced? Does everyone coming in contact with her need a HazMat suit? Better — make her wear a sign that says, “Ebola Quarantine. Maintain 3 feet distance.”

***The court order, issued late Thursday, leaves room for Hickox to go outside but instructs her to stay away from public transit and workplaces, and not to leave the town of Fort Kent, where she has mostly been holed up in a house, without consulting with public health authorities.***

She’s not to go into workplaces, and I would assume that means the grocery store, the coffee shop, etc. so her boyfriend can go into shops but she can’t. She must wait outside and away from people. You know people will want to stay away from her, too.

I’m just glad a judge finally signed the freaking order. It’s about time!

Thanks. I would assume that's her also.

As far as I can tell, she is like a group leader who writes reports so I tend to think she was in Africa for that purpose...and she's gonna be the expert for an Ebola report. That's why she's so cocky.

If only she were wise.

Note that this order is largely consistent with the CDC guidelines (as opposed to a strict quarantine).

Why would they? They agree with her re: quarantines.

Well, she hasn’t felt bound by the other demands on her. I have a hard time thinking she’ll actually pay attention to this.

Hopefully she will, and as you said stay away from workplaces. That is very vague though. While a grocery store is a workplace, whey didn’t he use the term “place of business”?

Doctors without borders turned her down when she first applied...lack of Medical experience. It’s a big clue.

Did The Smartest Man In The World™ come up with this, or what? It sure sounds like something a know-nothing idiot© would come up with!

I was sympathetic for her when she was stuck in a tent w/ a porta-potty.
Not any more.She is a self-center bi__h.

Correct me if I’m wrong but ebola victims are symptom free until they come down with the disease. DUH !

How far does the governemtn go regarding quarantines? When does due process become necessary? What if I have the flu (remember, it killed hundreds of Ks back in the early 20th century)?

If ebola scares, what about HIV? What about another 100 or so known infectious diseases? What are the Q rules for them? Are there any? I have been looking, but so far not much policy on any of these issues.

I have mixed opinions on this. Hope most of us do, otherwise we are only one policy away from totalitarianism.

Just saying....

The Maine LEO’s should have called Animal Control for a long pole with a catch noose. Application of a Tazer, followed by catch-pole noosing the potential Ebola Carrier would have made possible forcing the defiant potential carrier back into her residence while minimizing risk of potential transmission of Ebola to the ‘Nurse Control’ team.

I am surprised all people in her area do not follow her (keeping well upwind) while crying loudly “Unclean! UNCLEAN!”

I would think that you would have to submit to the quarantine and that the government has police powers to enforce it under public protection.

The person being quarantined would file for a writ of habeas Corpus, not remain free in the meantime riding bikes with boyfriends, riding buses, or going bowling. Otherwise you leave these medical decisions to each person rather than public health officials.

Until the hearing I would think the safety concerns of protecting people from infection and death would trump your right to walk around as you chose.

It a quarantine.
Invoke the old pre-1900s rules for quarantine.
Anyone breaking quarantine is shot.
