Tea Party icons urge conservative voters to turn out, help GOP take back the Senate
The Sugar Land Sun ^ | November 3, 2014 | Michael Patrick Leahy

Posted on 11/03/2014 3:34:14 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

Several Tea Party icons, including Senator Mike Lee (R-UT), Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), Representative Louie Gohmert (R-TX), Sarah Palin, and former Representative Allen West (R-FL), are urging Tea Party activists around the country to help Republicans take back the majority in the U.S. Senate in next week’s 2014 mid-term elections through a low budget but heart-felt social media campaign of personalized YouTube videos.

Dollar for dollar, these short YouTube pitches may end up being the most cost-effective assistance the Republican Party receives in the last week of the campaign. Targeted at the passionate Tea Party conservatives who powered the huge wave in the 2010 mid-terms that saw the Republicans take back a majority in the House of Representatives, the videos attempt to make the case that, despite four years of Republican establishment backsliding on the promises of the 2010 election, the future of the country depends on the outcome of the 2014 election.

These pitches, coming from Tea Party-aligned political leaders who enjoy high levels of trust with Tea Party activists around the country, are a timely boost for the Republican Party. Tea Party activists are not particularly enthused about the choices in the 2014 general election, whose marquis contest in the Kentucky U.S. Senate race will turn on whether “Tea Party Republicans show up and vote for McConnell, nose-holding or not,” as Sam Youngman at the Lexington Herald Leader reported.

With the losses of Tea Party-endorsed candidates in Republican primaries in Kentucky, Mississippi, Kansas, and Tennessee, Tea Party activists have no one left to cheer for. As a result, most consider this a “hold your nose” election where they are forced to vote for the least bad option, which in most cases is the moderate Republican, as opposed to the far left Democrat (in Kansas, the far left Democrat is listed on the ballot as an Independent).

The Tea Party icons in these videos are reminding the true believers in limited government that sometimes the best course of action is to hold your nose and vote for the least bad option, especially if one result of that vote will be the deposing of Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) as the majority leader of the U.S. Senate.

The low budget YouTube videos have an equally low budget distribution mechanism. Sources tell Breitbart News that several groups — including Americans for Limited Government, Tea Party Patriots, and For America, a conservative 501 c 4 whose Facebook page has more than six million likes — will be sending links out to these videos in their regular email messages.

Representative Louie Gohmert’s video begins with the assertion that “this is a country in trouble.” Every Tea Party activist, he urges, should “vote as if your country depends on it.”

With less than a week until election day, these Tea Party icons are hoping that the anticipated small margin needed for victory by Republican candidates in several key swing states may come from Tea Party activists energized by their YouTube video pitches.

Then Cruz, Palin, West and Lee are party hacks by your definition. And you never answered my question in post 48.

I’ll suggest they are Party Loyalists.

I am, however no longer a slave on the GOP plantation.

I will never again vote for a Ruling Class Statist because of the letter after their name.

What a narcissist fears more than just about anything is not being called ugly or being opposed. They fear being ignored. They fear that no one will come to gaze upon their “beauty.”

The political narcissists deserve no less than our indifference.

And you never answered my question in post 48.

Cruz, Palin, West and Lee are not on the ballot tomorrow.

Voting for an Establishment Ruling Class Chamberpot Fascist stooge candidate like McConnell tomorrow is beyond worthless as the link on that entry verifies.

Writing in a Conservative or voting for them 3rd party is NEVER a wasted vote.

Actually that is a pure wasted vote, as all these conservative/Tea Party heavyweights are trying to get through your thick skull.

I'm sure we probably agree on most issues, but I know the people with your type of thinking having lived in a 3rd world country where democracy is relatively new concept. You would stick with a pure candidate and never compromise even if it meant a socialist government remains in power for generations because the opposition could never settle on a candidate.

This is a 2 party system. Period. If you don't like it, take it up with the ghosts of the founders. This a winner take all setup with no chance of coalition government. That means your ONLY chance of getting the candidate you really want is in the primaries, and your just going to have to face the fact that in most cases the majority of the right/center right/squishy moderate right/etc simply don't share your view of which candidate to nominate.

In a general election in our system, your vote is not an affirmative endorsement of anyone or anything, it is simply a choice between the only 2 candidates that have any chance of winning. That's just the way it is whether you like it or not.

There are 50 some odd 3rd parties which will never amount to squat other than play spoiler now and again. So you can write in or vote for some 3rd party, but you are simply flushing your vote down the toilet by doing so.

I guess you could go try to round up Alan Keyes. I'm sure he is available to run 3rd party again or lose another Senate race by 40 points.

It would be nice if we had two parties, instead of the democrats and the little me-me party aka the GOP. I would love an opposition party to support instead of an echo.

Well, RIghtwardHo, the good news is that there's no lack of RINO leaders for you to root for.

Hold it—a RINO “leader?” Yeah, those beasts don't “lead,” they just follow the Democrat leader.

I stand corrected.

I can give a rat’s ass what you people say is “wasted’ or not.

We did things your way for decades and we are in the current situation precisely because most of us bought into that lie for most of our political lives.

I’m done being an abused spouse and slave of the GOP. They have demonstrated and illustrated without ANY QUESTION that they are NOT a Conservative party and indeed hate Conservatives more than the Democrats do.

I’ll vote for whom I damn well please and in the manner I so choose - and your stupid declarations of what is wasted is as worthless to me as those who would tell me that the Christians faith is a wasted way of life.

I’m no longer a slave on your master’s plantation.

You indicated my write-in vote for a Conservative instead of checking the box for McConnell is "worthless". I told you that your vote for the GOP Ruling Class fascist Establishment stooge (if you have one on the ticket) is more worthless than the Conservative I write in tomorrow instead of McConnell.

I then gave you links to prove my point.

You ignored that and instead put up a straw man you want to goad me into knocking down for you.

I frankly do not care that those who want to play in the GOP sandbox need to score points with the Establishment and urge Conservatives to drag their Crony Fascist stooges over the finish line.

I won't be party to that crap any longer. Unless a candidate is a Conservative who gives me a solid reason to vote FOR them, I will be writing in or voting third party from now on. Not that it matters in the scheme of things anyway, but I do want to be able to look myself in the mirror and know I did what was right by my principles and my God.

I went to the rally last night in Wasilla with Ted Cruz supporting Dan Sullivan. It was truly spectacular. Sullivan is not a Tea Party conservative, that was Joe Miller who was second in the primary. Sullivan is acceptable and most Tea Party people are going to back his play. If Mark Begich can triumph in this election he will never be defeated. Sarah is backing the democratic concocted “unity” candidate for governor over incumbent republican Sean Parnell. I heard that she is doing robo calls for the “unity” candidates to defeat Sean.

The answer: no. He is not.. Nor is Sarah Palin. Nor is Scott Walker.

Only one of those three are actually running for election. I don’t live in Wisconsin nor do the vast majority of FReepers. The vast majority of FReepers who can vote today are faced with choices that range from the mediocre at best to the downright horrible.

Simply because I happen to admire someone doesnt mean I have to agree with them or follow their lead, especially when I think theyre gravely mistaken. And on this I believe that all of the above, with the exception of Scott Walker would be gravely mistaken. Voting for mediocre at best candidates is a way to get mediocre at best results.

No deal. Make it worth my time to show and I’ll show. Otherwise I’ll spend my time rearranging my sock drawer and urging others to do the same.
