Happy Election Day everyone! I figured I'd go ahead and get the election day thread started. Polls open on the east coast in a little less than an hour.

Please be sure to post observations of interest if you went to the polls today.

Why the heck can’t we count the votes when the polls closed here in CT 4 and a half hours ago (4 hours in Hartford)?

That looks sewn up with the AP. Warner has won by between 0.5 and 0.6%.

This is going to a recount. The GOP needs to PLOW money into lawyers.

Our polling place had a D poll watcher and an R poll watcher. The latter was tracking who’d come to vote so they could follow up with their targeted voters. The D didn’t follow who’d voted or not, but rather her role was to see what issues may have arisen with the new photo ID requirement. Alas, NONE.

Everyone who came to vote had a photo ID of one sort or another (the photo ID had to be issued by the state or fed govt or a state university. I believe also in-state employers (can’t remember) but they were very specific about what the photo ID had to be. a fair # of voters were minorities and/or recent immigrants, and they (magically) ALL had photo ID. Encouraging, indeed.

Holy Moley Did everyone see the Map for the House? The entire continental USA was almost totally red! Even most of the counties in California was red.

The county-by-county map has had a lot of red for years. If you notice, most of the blue is around metro population areas.

That is why the Dems/Libs are always wanting to go with a popular vote for president. They know the cities make up a larger Dem/Lib voting contingent than the rural areas.
