I reject the notion that libertarians cost the Republicans the seat.

No. Illegals won this election. Lots of illegals have fraudulent drivers licenses.

We should back the Green Party for the same reason.

The left learned their lesson in Florida in 2000 when dimwit Nader got 75,000 votes.

Many "conservatives" aren't as bright as most leftists on this subject, and will never, ever learn.

Romney losing in 2012 made tonights major victory for the right possible

I didn’t vote for that SOB and I will never vote for a fraud

That being said I wouldn’t waste my vote on a nutjob Libetarian either

If Gillespie doesn’t contest this election then he deserves to lose

No way the communists didn’t cheat here

Still haven’t realized that the GOP establishment is against conservative candidates, yet?

So, bottom line, you actually believe a Libertarian on the ticket actually hurts democrats as much as it hurts Republicans? Amazing if that is the actual premise of your statement.

not what i said.

libertarians generally swing liberal. they like liberals have incorrect naive foundational beliefs that are more in line with naive liberal foundational beliefs. such as assuming that their actins only affect themselves and not others, so - insert desired destructive behavior here - should be legal.

they fall a lot more readily on the left end of the spectrum than the right.

Can’t say for sure, but I think a good portion vite libertarian simply because of the name and they don’t really do their homework on the candidate... They see “libertarian” and they think “independent” and pull the trigger for them because they dislike the name democrat and republican... My 2cents

Would they have voted Republican if Sarvis wasn’t there? Or would they’ve voted Democrat?

The Democrat Party is the Party of the State. Libertarians view the State with great suspicion. In general, therefore, Libertarians pull much more strongly from the Republican vote than the Democrat vote.

Of course, this is as long as Republicans don't manage to seem more statist than Democrats, even though Democrats will expend much energy to make it seem that way (e.g., the War on Women). But its rare in modern elections that the 'Rats will succeed in making that case to the types who would consider voting Libertarian. The low-information pukes are another matter, but they'll just vote Democrat simply because all they know is pop culture, and pop culture considers the Republican Party to be uncool.

"If you analyze it I believe the very heart and soul of conservatism is libertarianism. I think conservatism is really a misnomer just as liberalism is a misnomer for the liberals -- if we were back in the days of the Revolution, so-called conservatives today would be the Liberals and the liberals would be the Tories. The basis of conservatism is a desire for less government interference or less centralized authority or more individual freedom and this is a pretty general description also of what libertarianism is."-RONALD REAGAN, Reason Magazine, Jul. 1, 1975

........................................................

"In the middle of October, Warner had $8 million in his campaign accounts; Gillespie had but $2 million. To make ends meet, Gillespie lent his own campaign $65,000 in September."

Gillespie was outspent 4:1. That, plus the fact that the DC commuting suburbs are the one place in the US where Obamanomics has brought prosperity. Most disturbing is that yesterday has shown that both Virginia and New Hampshire have gone over to the dark (blue) side.

Virginia is a bitter pill to swallow...stolen by fraud. Red Hampshire has been blue for some time; ruled by radical marxist (and unattractive) womyn...who cares? RH is no longer relevant.

Libertarians are flooding into Red Hampshire thanks to the ‘Free State Project’, and now the state has turned blue. Coincidence? I don’t think so.
