GOP governors win blue states Maryland, Massachusetts, Illinois. Scott Walker re-elected.

President Barack Obama's home state of Illinois elected a Republican governor on Tuesday night. Massachusetts will have its first Republican governor since Mitt Romney.

Stunning Republican victories came in reliably Democratic states, including those won overwhelmingly by Obama in 2012. Illinois ousted Democrat Pat Quinn in favor of Republican Bruce Rauner, while Maryland voters opted for Republican Larry Hogan over Democrat Anthony Brown. Republican Charlie Baker won a Massachusetts match-up against Martha Coakley, the state attorney general who lost a special Senate election to Scott Brown in 2010.

Republicans also continued their dominance of governors' mansions when a number of GOP leaders fought off stiff challenges from Democrats.

Republican Rick Scott defeated Republican-turned-Democrat Charlie Crist in a very tight and hotly contested race.

Wisconsin's Scott Walker and Georgia's Nathan Deal both narrowly won re-election in the face of well-financed Democratic challenges, according to CNN projections. Ohio's John Kasich, Iowa's Terry Branstad and New Mexico's Susana Martinez also dispatched weaker Democratic challengers. And bombastic Maine Republican Gov. Paul LePage survived a stiff challenge from Rep. Michael Michaud to win a second term.

I’d give the win to Hickenlooper.

Some Democratic strongholds are still out.

In any case, its close enough to trigger an automatic recount.

The dead vote hasn’t been counted yet. The rats are resourceful even if not honest.

Hicks can make up the margin. He might just pull it off.

People in this state are stuck on stupid.

Charlie Crist changed his political allegiances more often than a Texas whore. No offense to Texas.

Is Rauner a “combine” member?

Nathan Deal beat Jason Carter 54% to 43%. That is not a narrow victory. Hitting the Mary Jane a little early to ease the pain?

That has got to really leave a mark.

Illinois - Obama’s home state - and the DU’ers HATE Walker. And the Walker win was big.

The DU’ers are astounded. They cannot believe that people would actually elect Walker. It is beyond their comprehension. They live in their own little world, they do not understand that normal middle class people understand public sector unions have devastated the middle class. While they have pensions and good salaries and healthcare off the public teat, the people who pay it struggle to stay above poverty line and have no pension and no perks.

Democrat run states have rich and poor. The middle class is gone, unless they are part of the government union oligarchy. If the Republicans take a cue from Walker, they can give the Dems a licking in 2016 that will give the party new life. If not, Obama’s child will turn out to be the many headed hydra that will bury this once great nation.

Except for GW in FL, has any republican won a recount election? We should have had Tancredo running, at least it would have been an exciting campaign.

In any case, the illegals swung the governors election here in CO.

Scott Walker winning by 7 percentage points is “narrowly winning”?

The Republican beat the ‘Rat for gov in my beautiful state of Maryland. So wonderful to type those words.

I honestly did not think it would happen, as the Rats are so well organized with their voter fraud.

Yes, Hogan is a RINO, but his victory over the Rat Brown here in Maryland makes me feel better anyway.

Beauprez sucked.

He ran well behind Gardner.

How do you that, I don’t know.

“How do you that, I don’t know.”

Beauprez doesn’t have the passion that a conservative has.

Comes from being ‘inclusive’.

I voted for him, but without enthusiasm.

I didn’t vote.

Nothing made me care enough to go to the polls.

Just as well the Colorado GOP still can’t get its act together and Hicks was vulnerable.

Scott Walker winning by 7 percentage points is “narrowly winning”?
There was a poll out just a few days ago declaring the race a tie - and then Scott wins by 7 points.
This is exactly the same scenario that took place during the recall vote 2 years ago.
The "ties" were only created by whomever sponsored those polls and foisted on the public by an unquestioning MSM.

Yes, I will take him too.

I voted for the black guy in the primary. But this is OK.

You cannot get much better in MD. Including the fact he won with sligt majority, just like Ehrlich, etc.

Yes, it does happen in MD, despite the gerrymandering. Even my county went RINO instead if full-on Marxist!
