Sen. James M. Inhofe, an the Oklahoma Republican who once compared the Environmental Protection Agency to the gestapo, is likely to lead the Environment and Public Works Committee when the GOP takes control of the Senate next year.
If approved, Inhofe would replace Chairman Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.), an avowed environmentalist, producing one of the most stark post-election changes in the Capitol. Committee assignments will not be made until Senate party caucuses meet in Washington after the election recess.
Inhofe, who has served in the Senate for two decades, is an iconic figure to both environmental and energy lobbyists. He chaired the committee from 2003 to 2008, when Republicans controlled the Senate. Inhofe, a former congressman and mayor of Tulsa, came to Washington to do battle with federal bureaucrats, particularly those at the EPA whom he said threatened the energy industry in his home state....

Cry me a river, liberals. Always remember: sometimes you’re the windshield, sometimes you’re the bug.
The article itself is pretty fair-handed. And of course I welcome Inhofe's voice of sanity and scientific reality on that committee. That's great news. Boxer has always been a joke but unfortunately a very destructive one.
As opposed to Tom Hamburger, the fool who believe mankind is capable of impacting the climate?
“Denier” is a word deliberately chosen to smear global warming skeptics. There is only one other instance where the word “denier” is used, and that’s in reference to the Holocaust. It’s a transparent attempt to link us with Nazis, and we should never let it go unchallenged.
building the pipeline should be the first order of business....give O all the things which are wildly popular but fringe elements of his support group will have a cow over.
It is a common tactic of the left. All natural resource users are “exploiters” and “polluters.” All family farmers are corporate agribusiness.
Enjoy and don’t forget the A-1 Sauce. =]
Or calling people like Dick Cheney, who was always a conservative, a “neo-con”. Because the only other common use of “neo-” is “neo-Nazi”.
Original Song Title: "I'm A Believer"
Original Performer: The Monkees
Parody Song Title: "I'm A Denier"
Parody Written by: Jeff Stambo
The Monkees may be gone, but the monkeys are still everywhere (Davos, Kyoto, Washington, and especially Nashville).
I thought earth was headed for catastrophe
I thought global warming was for real
Polar ice is melting
(I used to say)
Temperatures are high
(I used to say)
Pretty soon we're all just gonna die
Then I got a brain
Now I'm a denier
Not insane
Like I used to be
I'm informed
I'm a denier
Gore's a big liar yessirree
I thought truth was more or less a give-and-take
Theories could be proved by taking polls
Once you get consensus
(I used to say)
Then it's Q.E.D.
(I used to say)
There's no need to test empirically
Then I got a brain
Now I'm a denier
Not insane
Like I used to be
I'm informed
I'm a denier
Gore's a big liar
yessirree
That headline should be the title of a happy song.
YEAH! Hip-hip, hurrah!
denier of human role in climate change=realist
Oh, yessss!
Great post. Thanks.
Aaahhh. So good.
I’d be willing to believe in climate change if any of those pushing it could show me undoctored data that supported their assertion. [crickets]
Your challenge to WaPo writers is not really fair. If they were competent in math or science, they would be in a profession requiring them. Instead they chose a profession where they get rewarded for making things up.
Why don’t FReepers drive Priuses?
Because the men would have to be neutered first and the women would have to stop shaving their armpits.
Whenever I have to discuss global warming with a cult member, I ask them this: If we were experiencing global cooling and in danger of experiencing another ice age, do you think it would help to have everyone on the planet drive twice as much and burn more fossil fuel?
They either say no or they are dumbstruck by the idea. So if burning more fuel wouldn’t save us from global cooling then why would you think burning less would save us from global warming?
Verrrry good!
