(CNSNews.com) The chief of an international labor union said on Thursday that the Republicans are bullying President Barack Obama about taking executive action that would grant amnesty to millions of people who are in the country illegally.
Republican leaders are already playing politics by trying to stop the president from taking administrative action, Mary Kay Henry, international president of the Service Employees International Union, said at a press conference where she was joined by many illegal aliens at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.
Sen. McConnell had the nerve to say that [Obama] would be waving a red flag in front of a bull if he decided to act, Henry said. Their game of bullying and politics forces millions of immigrant families to wait in fear of separation and living in the shadows every day.
Addressing the group as brothers and sisters, Henry said the Republicans are to blame for not rubber-stamping the amnesty bill the Senate passed in June that would have allowed millions of illegal aliens a pathway to citizenship.
Americas working families know what an incredible asset immigrant communities are to the nations workforce and economy, Henry said. We also know who is to blame for refusing to pass common sense immigration reform Republican congressional leadership.
Yesterday as Republican congressional leaders issued threats, President Obama reiterated his determination to do what he could within his authority to provide relief for our countrys immigrant families and communities as soon as possible, Henry said.
We fully support the presidents commitment, and it is urgently needed, Henry said. Millions of immigrants need to be brought out of the shadows and into the light of our economy and democracy through bold and decisive action from the president.
But while Henry and other members of the Alliance for Citizenship, including Rich Trumka, international president of the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO), want the president to give temporary legal status to those who would have gained that status if the Senate bill was also passed in the House, some at the press conference want to stop all deportations of illegal aliens.
As CNSNews.com reported earlier, one illegal alien or Dreamer who got temporary legal status when Obama signed the executive order known as Deferred Action for Children Arrivals or DACA, expressed her support for amnesty for all.
Cristina Jimenez said at the event she was representing Dreamers all across the country and our families.
We wont stop organizing and advocating until all the members of our communities and families are protected from deportation, said Jimenez, who is managing director of United We Dream.
Were here to hold the president accountable to his promise to take executive action, and were here to call on the president to deliver relief of deportation for millions in our communities, Jimenez said, adding that this should include parents of Dreamers, workers, and members of the LGBT community.
All of them should be protected, Mr. President, Jimenez said.
Republican leaders are already playing politics by trying to stop the president from taking administrative action,
Damn right, because there is no legitimate law-making function of the Presidency known as “administrative action”.
Union Chief: Republicans Are Bullying President About Amnesty Executive Order
Evidently Boehner, McCain, Graham, Ryan, and Rubio didn’t get the message.
They are determined to carry out the Chamber of Commerce mandate for amnesty and open borders, the voters be damned.
attempting to sto obama is a good thing.
it’s why nov 4 2014 occurred the way it did.
Never let it be said I haven’t done my part to improve her life considerably.
*NEIGH*
Why should anybody care what they think or feel about it?
They voted for this cancer....time to pay the piper.
Remember it’s always “racist” for us to disagree with them no matter what.
We have been sale to see our way out of it. We need to pray for those who cannot see.
Sure but we have to do more than pray. We have to make them see. Tough love? So be it. Because they aren’t simply ‘not seeing’. I wholly agree that they aren’t seeing. But they are causing more problems. And defending it. They are ensuring conservatives fail in elections. They are continuing to empower liberalism with an R attached. That has to stop.
Personally, I don’t care if their feelings get hurt and at this point it is indeed about their feelings. Many of them don’t want to admit they are wrong so they will keep bulling foreward! so they can avoid responsibility for their actions.
We all helped create this mess. Some of us fessed up to our part. I did. I voted for McCain to get Palin and it was a mistake. I learned. I only empowered the GOP to run/elect more RINO/Liberals and Romney, and another election loss was the result. In his followup senate run, he did not get my vote.
That’s all there is to it. Admit we screwed up and change our ways. But no one will ever respect or trust someone that refuses to admit they were wrong and keep being wrong. Such people may as well vote Democrat and avoid the middleman Republican.
mary kay is a tool and a fool. This traitorous degenerate should be fired and exiled.
All liberals need to be fired really. We can work on exiled later. But every single right wing business owner in America is insane if he does not start clearing his employee roles of their poison. There are more than enough non liberals out there qualified to replace every one of them.
A union wants to flood the country with many low age workers? That helps union members in what way????
Are the members of SEIU so clueless that they do not understand the laws of supply and demand? Rhetorical I guess.
Another example of how Union leaders are not working in the best interest. They want all to low paid service jobs in the union and the illegals that come with them
“Another example of how Union leaders are not working in the best interest.”
Exactly.
I could at least have some (some; doesn’t mean I would support a union!!) respect for a union if it truly sought to partner with a business; but push for higher pay for its workers.
But instead this tactic seems to be nothing more than an a (weak) attempt to bring in more Demo rat voters. AT THE EXPENSE of current union members pay scales.
I was a manager in Cal state service I saw this crap all the time on a smaller scale. Most member just look at paycheck and the union runs wild with the political money.
