If Senator McConnell really wants to play hardball with Obama, he should announce he will 'temporarily' suspend the Filibuster Rule in the Senate if Obama goes ahead with Executive Amnesty.
1) This will drive a wedge between Reid and Obama, since Reid's power will be directly tied to Obama's action
2) This will enable the Legislative branch to more readily balance it's powers with those of the Executive Branch
3) Much better than some Impeachment action, since it will actually give the Senate more power over the Executive Branch.
Desperate times call for desperate measures ...
He should do that anyway.
Why are we always the ones to unilaterally disarm?
Only for Executive Appointments - It's still in place for legislative actions.
That's why McConnell needs to use 'Amnesty' as the reason for suspending the rule for legislation .... else we will have unilaterally disarmed
Not a bad idea.
How about the Senate (and House) Chairs start deeming they had 2/3 override votes and ignore any measures to the contrary. And start musing about issuing new “Legislative Orders” that the same is allowed for impeachment. After all, in Clinton’s Senate trial good old Dungheap Harkin went out of his way to establish that the Senate could make its own rules. So just deem that 1/2 = 2/3 and start impeaching away everything that squawks until the White Hut starts offering leadership to the contrary on the quaint old concept of the rule of written law.
Needs must...when the Devil drives.
McConnell can’t do it unilaterally. But come January he will have enough senators to change the rules procedurally.
Credit edwinland for the idea. But it really does go to the heart of the matter.
-Thank You-
Yep - but he should ANNOUNCE it now
I completely agree with you. The GOP needs to preemptively communicate certain actions--it's part of the political chess game. McConnell needs to be on all the talk shows (and Gowdy, and Ryan, and any other telegenic Congressional Republican), informing the media of how illegal Obama's actions are, and how they're wrong for the country, and anything else they need to say.
forget that! Immediately start amendment processes at congress and state levels to:
1. require balanced budget
2. limit executive orders and privileges
3. establish term limits for all elected officials
4. direct election of all federal judges w/term limits
Yeah. Make it clear executive amnesty means all out war.
No filibuster. No judges at all. No executive appointments at all. NO budget for EPA, NPR, EEOC etc, etc....
Whatever it takes to stop the POS is fine by me.

I agree, these Dems, have had Louisiana purchase, Cornhusker kickbacks, if you lie we can fool you into thinking your going to pay less, keep your doctor and healthcare plan.
Now O-Zero, acts like a Monarch, the people wanted to elect the “Party of No” to stop Obama.
Your right the Gop need to get ready for a Constitutional
crisis.
“House announces it will not appropriate funds to liberal sacred cow projects, starting with Obummercare.”
Now we’re talking.
Defund the democrat party by defunding democrat sacred cows.
Better yet rig it to where funding for one group defunds another group, let Obama veto it and neither group is funded, pit the two groups against each other.
You can also make it to where a group can only accept govt funding after certain terms are met not before, and previous govt funding cannot be used to meet the terms.
They go bankrupt trying to meet the terms to accept govt funding.
I don't think there is any time limit in the Constitution for Senate ratification of treaties or for Congress to override a veto.
The only time limit is that the president has 10 days to sign or veto a bill. If he lets it sit for more than 10 days, it automatically becomes law.

Except for the “pocket veto”
pocket veto - The Constitution grants the president 10 days to review a measure passed by the Congress. If the president has not signed the bill after 10 days, it becomes law without his signature. However, if Congress adjourns during the 10-day period, the bill does not become law.
I got the above text off of the senate.gov website.
McConnell approves Obama’s executive action on amnesty. He won’t do anything except provide a little theater to fool people.
LOL. He's already blowing up a beachball right now.
You are probably right. A good and insightful post.
