Is just his personal vendetta flaring up again. He’s been mad lately because more and more people are publicly disavowing the RIMOs and coming over to where we’re at RE: Romney. That and he never did sink the knifes completely into our backs so he wants to finish the job on me I suppose.
I gotta admit though, calling me a PDSer/Palin defier or whatever that garbled nonsense was is pretty whacked out even for him. Good lord, of all the people on fr to accuse of that with a prayer of it sticking, I’d have to be low on the candidate list. But he’ll just scream liar! or one of his other go-to catch phrases as usual and feel better about it.
He’s also apparently tweaked that Palin declared a RINO hunt and that means HE is either going to have to give up the RINO support or be the guy he accused me of being. Dilemma! But he’s making progress. He finally managed to disrupt a thread without posting Yosemite Sam on a Dragon. So there’s that.

You are the hypocrisy wearer. Your “standards” would lead to voting for nobody, not even Ronald Reagan, because the creeping incrementalism would not find a stopping place except in your personal comfort zone. God would still continue to say guilty, guilty, guilty (but for the sacrifice of My Son).
These matters have been well hashed out in both evangelical and Roman Catholic Christendom. If you can make an effective nod to someone that is easy to deal with in preference to someone that is hard to deal with, you make that nod. Otherwise you enter the “voting means voting for some arbitrary degree of perfection” fallacy. There is a point where no better choice can be had. Sitting on your hands or spite voting gets you nowhere with heaven.
Brand, it will help all of us to get more fire from heaven and to apply it where possible to try to influence the outcome of earth’s politics to a more rather than less heavenly condition.
You’re right, the low popularity of “minor” votes is telling. I’m no paragon of perfection there. But one can always vote for God on one’s knees. We should always try to bring more of God into what we are doing.
As I pointed out in a parallel debate I am carrying out, a politician we tried to supplant with someone better may end up being the most likely conduit of God’s blessings, knowing that our involvement with our neighbor is not just “Set And Forget” but ongoing. We vote for a governor or whoever, and then we pray for God’s grace to make a way through the selfsame person or whoever managed to get the official nod.
And yes, the bible is clear. The Holy Spirit urged (through St. Paul) to make prayers for “kings and all who are in authority.” As the proverb puts it, the heart of the king is like channels of water in God’s hands. An initial answer that seems to be “no” may change and become “yes” with a continual petitioning of Heaven. Even the hard hearted may relent or refrain before the Lord’s restraining influence.
Perhaps Barack Obama himself is finally beginning to be disgusted with the spectacle before him. If he is, that must be credited to the grace of God. It is those who naysay the promises of scripture that lack the power to petition the Lord effectively.

Bygones are bygones, we can’t edit a past vote or what we did. But God always, always has power to architect a brighter spiritual future for those who are willing to believe upon Him. And if it gets reflected in the land, so much the better.
There’s always mercy, but it is frequently mixed with struggle and challenges.
The mercy is there to help you keep from giving it up permanently. The struggle and challenges are there to give you occasions to “work out [our] salvation[s] with fear and trembling.” This doesn’t mean we run around scared that we won’t be saved. This does mean we stand in awe when we see the Lord do something. God does not want ho-hum salvations.
Some people start out doing the right thing for the right people for the right reason. then they are screamed at by the Freeper left and the left wing of every other ‘right wing’ site about how evil they are for not backing the RINO/GOPe candidate that can WIN! because this is the most important election ever and next time they can push for the conservative but right now is too important and we need party unity because if you don’t elect their Rino then you love Obama, hate America and are Yosemite Sam on a dragon. Conservatives in name only - Cheshires here only to keep the pot stirred, feed us GOPe bullshit and prevent us from coming together behind conservative candidates. Every single election this happens. And every single election, conservatives lose primaries because the people I mention above go down the fear filled path to RINOville by these plants.

Giving green cards to 34 million foreign invaders will be his 6th act of treason.

"I'll gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today." These so-called conservatives will gladly pressure functional Democrat Republicans on Tuesday if you vote for them today.
Lakeshark is also one of the Wimpy Conservatives who mistakenly thinks there are only about "fifty of you loudmouths" on FR who think it's stupid to vote for a functional Democrat Republican in the general just because he won the primary. Lakeshark hasn't crunched the numbers. I have. As of this point, we're looking at a whole helluva lot more than 50 individuals on FR who are on the same page as us. Right now, it's about even split between FReepers who have made it clear in their posts that they believe in voting Republican at any cost, and FReepers who now more or less declare, "I'm done playing that loser's game -- keep your RINO, let him lose." If anything, the numbers are slightly higher on OUR side, of rejecting RINOs even if it means the Democrat wins.
Lakeshark cannot handle that in 2012, he was in the minority who fell the "heads they win, tails we lose" GOPe political strategy; the balance (that would be us!) figuratively told Romney and the GOPe to go to hell. That's why Romney lost.

I repeat: We're lucky the bastard Romney lost. God smiled on America, and we saw the wisdom of putting Him above fear of Obama in the voting booth in 2012 -- those Republican advances in the midterms happened BECAUSE a Godly righteous people rejected depraved Romney in 2012 even at the price of having to face Obama. That choice was the right one and as it turns out, the better one for conservatism because conservatives GAINED in the midterms; had Romney won, Democrats and leftists would have gained in the midterms.
