The fate of a little-noticed ballot measure in strongly Democratic Oregon serves as a warning to President Barack Obama and his party about the political perils of immigration policy.
Even as Oregon voters were legalizing recreational marijuana and expanding Democratic majorities in state government, they decided by a margin of 66-34 to cancel a new state law that would have provided driver's licenses to people who are in the United States illegally.
"The Oregon measure tells you these measures are not easy or simple," said Muzaffar Chishti of the Migration Policy Institute. "The political cost may be significant, even in blue states."

Though Portland was ‘the place to find something that was not available in the rest of the state’, I applaud the good people of Oregon, for their sense of Nativism.

Either you have a distinct national identity or with open borders you don’t. At best Obama sees himself as the leading citizen of the world and views borders as an anachronism. RATIONALE--Obama's temporary amnesty E/O requires temporary suspension of the rule. That should also include Congress passing laws without the president signing the bill.
If it is okay for the president to overreach, then it is okay for Congress to overreach. Obama forgets that the Congress---and Americans---can also say, “We have been patient.”

(1) Fund every penny that is budgeted now.....except defund all DHS, ICE, HHS and USCIS' rubber-stamp activities. Defund anything and everything that directly and indirectly deals with amnesty: work permits, green cards for illegals, gravy train subsidies, re-situating unaccompanied minors w/ families. Then let Obama defend his amnesty E/O or take the blame for the entire shutdown himself.
(2) As a further warning----no votes on ANY Obama nominees until Jan 20, 2017. No judges, No Attorney General, no sub-cabinet secretaries. NOTHING----thanks to the SCOTUS ruling, Obama could not recess-appoint ANYONE, if the House declares the Congress is always in session.

Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-ALA), has set up an active war room dedicated to undermining Obama's plans on immigration, and is next in line to chair the Budget Committee. From that perch, he would have the power to set spending parameters that undermine the president's moves.

And where were you when McCain was not proving enough defiance to his NVA captors? Is McCain responsible for being the son of CINCPAC? Surely the US would have a special place in South Vietnam or even the US for the son of Gen Giap? I was in a TS Special OPS unit in 68-69 in the south and no one in my unit made light of any POW.
