Rogers said he believed China along with “one or two” other countries had the capability to successfully launch a cyber-attack that could shut down the electric grid in parts of the United States.

Of course! The NSA, under Obama control, has been FAR more interested in data mining YOUR habits, wants, needs and political thoughts that they ever thought about the Chinese.....why, we don’t need to worry about the Chinese.....didn’t Obama bow to them at least twice?

Well in fairness we can also shut down theirs, and since they depend as much on the U.S. for buying their cheap crap as we depend on them for making it, I can’t help wonder why the NSA isn’t trumpeting the more realistic threat of the muzzies damaging the U.S. power grids.................oh wait.

Uh-huh, I get it:

“You need US like crazy! And you need to pay us more, and TRUST US, just like before...! And I have tons of James Bond info that shows YOU are in deep peril...!!”

Riiiight.

Which is the greater threat to the US?

Chinese cyber attacks?

Or the dork in the Oval Office?

The fallacy of the false alternative?

If China knocks out our grid about 90% of us will die within two years.

And that's a conservative estimate IMHO...

Rather than wasting time on the legalities of allowing an illegal servant class to flood our borders... for the benefit of liberal elites - maybe we should deal with this issue. Close the borders - and DEAL with real threats...

"Yeah the grid is very vulnerable to alot of threats."

That's why I have four electrical power generators. Gasoline and propane.

There was a transformer shot up in CA. (late last year?) if I recall. Zeroing in on some of the heavy hitting transformers could do a lot of harm and it could be done or under a grand with a 30-06.

We are planning to install a solar system even though its expensive. I don’t want to spend 2-4 years boiling clothes in a pot over a fire in the backyard. :-)

Well, then let China start by damaging the NSA site in Utah.

China can shut down the United States.

If Obama doesn't already beat them to it.

Fuels will dry up overnight when SHTF. How much gas do you have stored at this very moment?

Well, it can be fixed rapidly - at no point should any power grid control system have any interface to the Internet.

But why would China do this even if they could? They do expect their vast US Treasury holdings to be honored, after all...and that can't happen unless the lie is perpetuated.

If money isn’t an issue it would be crazy not to have a generator, if nothing else it gives you a couple of weeks or much more of electricity, to adjust to a new situation and charge batteries, manage a well stocked freezer and convert the food into canned, and all kinds of things even working out trades with neighbors where you split their food for your cold storage and let them charge phones and such.

On the other hand, preparing at a more basic level and not counting on such luxuries is not without it’s merits, and can certainly be adequate.
