President Barack Obama appealed for calm and understanding in Ferguson on Monday after a grand jury decided not to indict in the death of Michael Brown, pleading with both residents and police officers to show restraint.
We are a nation built on the rule of law, so we need to accept that this decision was the grand jurys to make, Obama said.
CBS News reports that Obama did not watch St. Louis County Prosecutor Bob McCullochs announcement, but his aides did and briefed him. It was the fifth time Obama addressed Browns death.

I swear this man never does anything useful. He only amuses himself, campaigns, and damages my country.
He waited intil half time to make his announcement. We watched the game and the announcement came as the half time started.
Why should he have, I’m sure Eric Holder & Valerie Jerritt told him everything he needed to know. /sarc
“but his aides did and briefed him”
Let me guess ... Sharpton and Jarrett?

Sharpton a key advisor to Obama on Ferguson (reported back directly to Valerie Jarrett)

Since he just wanted to lecture Whitey, why would he care what the prosecutor said?
Pray America is waking
We've seen the biggest "I hate Whitey" campaign of our lifetime.
Us white folks can't say ho, n, etc etc without losing our jobs or going to jail but they can...and they're terms of endearment among them. Just so wrong.
Sharpton is in Harlem, at his private ghetto HQ. Might have been VTC’ed into the White Hut, with ValJar standing behind The Won’s shoudler.
It was no surprise when revealed that the DC Clown didn’t watch the announcement regarding Ferguson. He knew what the outcome would be. Meanwhile, his expressions for “calm and peace” are hollow words. He, Holder and Rev Al have fanned the flames of hate and violence over the past few months. The police response wasn’t harsh enough last night. The situation in Ferguson will continue and get more violent. The DC Clown will tolerate it.
He wanted to but Moochelle wouldn’t let him get up from the table until he ate his vegetables.
All I learned last night is that Don Lemon is PURE COMEDY GOLD!
If you don’t get it, you don’t have a funny bone.
He was busy playing X-Box.
You mean he still hasn’t heard about what is going on? He didn’t watch the news last night?
BTW - That little forced speech he gave was pathetic. I think he could barely contain the grin.
I wonder if it happened more like this...they held a briefing but he wasn’t present. Thats his MO for sure.
But, I was watching FOX most of the evening .. and somewhere in all that coverage, a comment was made by the President, and then ALL THE OTHER CITIES WENT INTO ACTION.
Somebody (don’t remember who it was), said, “... as soon as the President said the word ‘calm’, the rest of the country erupted into chaos”. These were all the groups around the country that Sharpton had coerced into participating in the chaos.
Did anybody else see or here this ..??
I also remember something being said about another of Obama’s comments: “Stay the course”. Can’t remember who he said that to, but it had something to do with Ferguson.
And, then it came out this morning that several young black men had been killed in Chicago. Don’t know if they were associated with the Sharpton groups or not.
Of course not. It was all about him and his speech. He was visibly angry about the decision. The rioting appeared to be timed with his appearance. Almost as though it was the “go” sign.
The governor of MO and the pResident must have decide that looting, arson, assault and various other crimes are acceptable. The national guard should have been deployed inside businesses and along the street. Obama's people should have been told that they would be shot if they committed any crimes. I believe that would be a strong deterrent and there would have been no shootings or crime.
Don’t want to confuse him with the facts
Did you see his face, he was really pissed off!
After a grand jury in Ferguson, Missouri declined to indict a police officer in the shooting death of an unarmed black man, Rev. Al Sharpton said New Yorkers would face the same attitudes in investigations in police-related deaths here.
We are dealing with the same attitudes of Ferguson right here in the city, Mr. Sharpton said.
(snip)
This is one case, you have another case now with Gurley, Mr. Sharpton said tonight. Ferguson is not just in Missouri, which is why we watched it tonight in the House of Justice. We can lose a round, but the fight is not over.
