We spent two days walking around Vancouver in heavy rain. That wasn't supposed to happen, and I wasn't prepared, so I found myself wet and cold. There was the smell of marijuana everywhere on the streets of downtown. On Sunday nights the city seemed to close down, so finding a good Chinese place to eat wasn't easy.
The Vancouver Art Museum had the "Forbidden City" exhibit from China, and the museum was patrolled by Chinese men who appeared to be PLA soldiers in suits. It was a great exhibit.
In Victoria, we saw the Butchart Gardens in the rain, the Butterfly Museum and the Craigdarroch Castle, a Victorian mansion designed to look like a castle.
Coming back at Anacortes, the US Customs official asked why we lived in different cities, and I explained that we weren't married, which caused me to blush and my lady friend to laugh. I expected him to ask something like, "Are you guys doing it?"
I spent Thanksgiving in Bellevue at her family's place, and it was fun and very filling. I weighed myself today, and I almost fell off the scale. Back to vegetables again! You know you're getting old when you get excited about vegetables.
I came home to a house with no heat or hot water. The gas company had replaced the meter, and I found a card on my doorknob telling me to call the gas company to get it turned back on. Fortunately, that was considered an emergency, or else I would have had to wait until Monday to get my heat and hot water. The man came within an hour of my phone call, so I'm getting back to normal.
How did your Thanksgiving turn out?

Well, mine wasn’t THAT exciting! LOL! Sounds like y’all made lots of good memories if nothing else. Glad you didn’t have to wait for heat and water...in the far north, that IS an emergency for sure!
We had a quiet day, went to a cafeteria with friends for dinner. I had the traditional turkey, etc and hubby had ham. It was good and I had no dishes to wash! LOL!
Glad you got to see your friend!

As a Church organist for several years, I was always confronted by the Pastor’s wife at Christmas who insisted upon singing “Oh Holy Night”. I had the chords all figured out in C, but every year she would want to do it in a different key. And, just to keep things interesting, she kept CHANGING her key every year and not telling me till the last minute. I think this was because she had an untrained voice, and would break on the high note at the end. So, she would keep lowering the key, thinking it would make a difference. Of course, it wasn’t the pitch that was a problem, it was the INTERVAL, which for some reason, she couldn’t Handel.
Every year, she would come Bach with a different key, and every year, I would struggle to transpose it on-the-fly.
I got quite skilled at transposing, But it always caused me to do a slow Burn-stein. That dame was definitely on my Lizst, and sometimes I felt like Chopin her head off.
