Robot Sub Finds Surprisingly Thick Antarctic Sea Ice
Live Science ^ | November 30, 2014 | Becky Oskin

Antarctica's ice paradox has yet another puzzling layer. Not only is the amount of sea ice increasing each year, but an underwater robot now shows the ice is also much thicker than was previously thought, a new study reports.

The discovery adds to the ongoing mystery of Antarctica's expanding sea ice. According to climate models, the region's sea ice should be shrinking each year because of global warming. Instead, satellite observations show the ice is expanding, and the continent's sea ice has set new records for the past three winters. At the same time, Antarctica's ice sheet (the glacial ice on land) is melting and retreating

How unscientific can you be?

No, the models can’t be wrong since they’re based on settled science. The climate is wrong in that it’s differing from the models. :=)

I am more and more convinced that this is a core assumption of liberals, but it may even be a trait of humanity in general.

“My assumptions about reality cannot be wrong. The reality must be wrong!”

I find that it’s much easier to change an incorrect assumption that I’ve made than it is to try to make reality change to match my incorrect assumption. Since leftists are never wrong, that option isn’t available to them.

There are many people like you on freerepublic, but I fear that they are a minority in the population.

It usually takes a severe shock for people to change their core beleifs. Most would rather suffer serious hardship or even death rather than give up fundamental assumptions about reality.

On the other hand, a lot of people have not formulated their assumptions about reality, so they are more mutable. I think.

Thanks for the humorous reminder. I wonder how many of then are true believers in global warming now?

And what's with that blonde chick with all the exposed skin in the top photo? Doesn't she know anything about dressing for this type of climate? Gloves are a MUST. So is a good parka or at least a neck wrap muffler.

In the early 19th century it was observed that the orbit of Uranus “didn’t match the models”.

The models were modified theorizing another large mass, then solved to predict the position of said mass, and the planet Neptune was found.

No, I had posted to the other thread. First I thought the moderators had gotten me, but it looks like they zotted the whole thread.
