If your numbers are correct he isn’t much of a businessman.
Cost..$6, Sell..$8. Then the transportation costs....
If he bought them locally @$10/pack and sold them single @$1 he would be ahead.
Even if he was getting them out of state the crushing arrest the police made was waaay beyond any logic.
IMO Michael Brown’s parents not only have no case, they didn’t even raise him. They are gold diggers for sure.
This case however is a different story. The cop should be prosecuted. He was using a choke hold that the department had abandoned as too dangerous. And IMO unnecessary.
Next they’ll be coming after video bootleggers and street corner umbrella salesmen!
Yes the owner of the store called the police.
What makes Rand think this guy died over not paying tobacco taxes on the cigarettes he was selling?
Apparently, Rand does not realize that two of the officers were plainclothes officers. That means they were undercover. I doubt they were out to collect tobacco taxes. Note that we have not been told what other things he was selling.
The autopsy showed that he died because he was asphyxiated by tissue collapse. The guy was about 350 pounds. A lot of 350 pound and up people have to sleep standing up because their own weight and tissues cause them not to be able to breathe while lying down.
While the police should have been faster to call EMTs or to get the fat guy into a sitting position.
My prediction is that the Obama administration is going to try to trash the grand jury system as the Democrats tried several years ago despite the fact that the purpose of the grand jury is to protect people from overzealous magistrates such as district attorneys and judges. That is why grand jury protections are in the Bill of Rights.
I wish I remembered the exact numbers, but don’t remember now where I even saw the article (was written by a Columbia journalism major). The dealer she spoke with makes @ $450-500/day so not bad, he can absorb the trips to NC.
It’s @ 900 miles round trip from Staten Island to Rocky Mt, NC. Let’s say 25 mpg at $4/gallon. Throw in $20 each way for tolls. So he does that 2x/mo. Bottom line: $3K/6-day week income; $400/mo expenses. Most businesses would be happy with that ROI. I may have found myself a new calling!
I resent the living he!! out of NYC charging that kind of $ for a pack of cigarettes. I went into a Duane Reade a few years ago, the man behind the counter laughed when I asked if it was REALLY $12/pack. The one responsible, if anyone other than Garner, should be Bloomberg.
Rand Paul is right. (<—— period. Notice the period)
I guess that is a symbol of some sort?
I wish my kids would listen to me as much as my fellow FReepers do :-)
They do listen. They just won’t admit it.
Rand Paul is a better version of Ron Paul.
Eric Blair Junior is a smarter and better version of Eric Blair senior. :-)
Whatever, I guess that is some teen thing.
Merry Christmas ansel

Ok, I will.
